Signiert, datiert, betitelt und nummeriert. - In Außenrändern Papier leicht gewellt und gegilbt, ganz punktuell winziger Braunfleck, sehr vereinzelte, sehr leichte Griffspur, verso sehr wenige blasse braune Fingerflecken, am rechten Rand vereinzelt leicht unfrisch, insgesamt sehr gut. Prachtvoller, klarer Druck mit blind mitdruckender Facette und deutlich eingeprägter Plattenkante, nach verso gemeinsam mit der Darstellung ein herrliches Relief erzeugend, mit sehr breitem Rand, an zwei Seiten mit dem Schöpfrand. Danilowtz 139 a. - Eines von 30 Exemplaren. - Unermüdlich untersucht Albers in seinem künstlerischen Schaffen Farben, Formen, Linien und Flächen und ihre Wechselwirkung auf die kognitive sowie visuelle Wahrnehmung. In experimenteller Stringenz verschreibt er sich der geometrischen Ordnung, mal farbig, mal farblos. Unser Blatt fordert die taktile Wahrnehmung des Betrachters heraus, kehrt Albers in ihm den klassischen Tiefdruck in eine Blindprägung meisterhaft um. Signed, dated, titled and numbered. - Paper in outer margins slightly buckled and yellowed, very isolated tiny brown stain, very isolated, very slight handling tracem verso very few faint brown finger stains, slightly unfresh in places on right margin, all in all very good. Splendid, clear impression with blindly impressed facet and clear plate mark, showing onto verso a wonderful relief together with the depiction, with very wide margin, deckle edge on two sides. - One of 30 copies. - In his artistic work, Albers tirelessly explores colours, shapes, lines and surfaces and their interaction with cognitive and visual perception. With experimental stringency, he devotes himself to geometric order, sometimes colourful, sometimes colourless. Our sheet challenges the viewer's tactile perception in which Albers masterfully reverses the classic intaglio print into a blind embossing.

This gem was discovered in Perugia, Italy sometime before 1742. It entered the collection of Philip von Stosch (1691-1757) in 1755 (a gift from Count Vicenzio Ansidei of Perugia) and is today held by the Antikensammlung in Berlin. The ancient engraved gem featured as the frontispiece of Winckelmann's 'Art History' (1764) and Mario Guarnacci's 'Origini Italiche' (1767). See Hansson, U. Two early 19th century seal fobs, the first with foiled quartz matrix intaglio engraved depicting Apollo with lyre, to lion head mount within ouroboros surround, to split ring, height 2.2cm; the other with a foiled quartz matrix intaglio engraved with the Lowry crest, two laurel branches, and motto 'floreant lauri', to hinged locket mount set with an emerald and ruby, height 2.6cm (2)Condition Report: Some areas of surface wear and areas of discolouration. Second fob with hinged/openable section, interior with visible scratches/marks and glue residue. Foiled quartzes with areas of abrasion to facet edges.
