Karneolgemme mit Athena. Baktrisch, 2. Jh. v. Chr. H 2,7cm. Roter Karneol, auf dem hochovalen Intaglio stehende, behelmte Athena mit Rundschild und Lanze. Mit Abdruck! Intakt. Provenienz: Ex Sammlung K. G., Rheinland, erworben im deutschen Kunsthandel 1960er Jahre bis 2003. Athena wird in ähnlicher Weise auf baktrischen Münzen des Menander I. Soter (ca. 155 - 130 v. Chr.) dargestellt (s. zum Beispiel HGC 12, 182). Allerdings schleudert sie auf den Münzen ein Blitzbündel, während sie auf unserem Stück eine Lanze hält.

Sara Lee Revisit AP, 2021 Japanese Woodcut on Paper Signed on front and verso 10 x 15cm (3¾ x 5¾ in.) Sara Lee predominantly works with drawing, intaglio and relief prints, including etching and Japanese woodcut in the ukiyo-e tradition, within a studio and site specific practice. Born in Wales in 1956, Sara lives and works in London. She graduated in Fine Art Painting from Ravensbourne in 1979 and went on to take an MA in Fine Art Printmaking at Central School graduating in 1982. She spent most of the following year traveling in the United States, visiting studios and collections, culminating in working for Jay Street Gallery and Studios in NYC. Sara Lee has been part of the fine art print community for more than two decades. Working within Hugh Stoneman's studio for more than ten years, together they developed a gravure practice and co-published, under the imprint Print Centre Publications, including works by Terry Frost RA, Ian McKeever RA and Hamish Fulton. Over the past seven years she has worked on etching and woodcut projects with Eileen Cooper RA, with whom she shares a print studio space and imprint Blackbird Editions. Cinthia Sifa Mulanga Intimate I, 2021 Acrylic and Collage on Fabriano Paper Signed on verso 15 x 10cm (5¾ x 3¾ in.) Cinthia Sifa Mulanga was born in Lubumbashi, Democratic Republic of Congo in 1997. Sifa graduated her 3rd year In 2020 at Artist Proof Studio in printmaking combining techniques such as intaglio, Linocut and silk screening. Her third-year body of work explored the politics surrounding the domestic space and notions of beauty within an Afropolitan context. Sifa's works in many mediums including painting, collage, drawing, photography. In 2019, she was awarded first place for a work created for a tribute exhibition to Louis Khela Maqhubela & Douglas Portway presented by Artist Proof Studio in partnership with Strauss & Co at the Turbine Art Fair. Sifa was also a trainee in the Special Projects Unit at the Artist Proof Studio and had been part of numerous projects commissioned by Bidvest Bank and Hogan Lovell. In 2020 Sifa participated in The TLC Student Lockdown Collection, and exhibited her works on Latitudes Online. She currently lives and works in Johannesburg. The colours are to evoke emotions of hope and calm which is what I believe reflects the Fundraise of The Trust for the people who do not know they have hepatitis C.
