SILVER MEDAL, 1904/5 the obverse with relief portrait of Hermes, the reverse with inscription 4cm high Qty: 15g Note: This interesting medal relates to the Challenge International du Nord, an early cross country competition and forerunner to the European Cup.'The Challenge international du Nord (Northern International Challenge) was an annual football tournament featuring clubs from Northern France and Belgium as they could not play in the French Championship. Later teams from Switzerland, Netherlands and England were invited to play. It was hosted in the Lille area (Roubaix, Tourcoing and Lille) between 1898 and 1914 in different formats.'

All are boxed in original boxes and are in very good condition.

Condition Report: The box is slightly grubby with some rubbing to the corners. The pouch is slightly dusty. The bangle is in very good condition, appears unused. No cracks, chips or obvious scratches to the enamel. No dents to the structure, some light scratches to the silver consistent with the manufacturing process. Some slight spots of residue which would clean off.

Blatt 1 (Entwurf): Feder in Braun über Bleistift auf Bütten (ligiertes Wz "TS"). Blatt 2 und 3 (Reinzeichnungen): Feder in Braun über Spuren von Bleistift auf Velin. 40,4 x 64,4 / 35,5 x 63,3 / 29,5 x 48 cm cm. Das erste Blatt deutlich beschädigt. Alle Blätter unterschiedlich gebräunt, etwas unfrisch und etwas fleckig.Dargestellt sind: Blatt 1: "Hermes bei Kalypso" - "Abschied des Odysseus von Kalypso" aus dem Zweiten Saal (Saal der Nausikaa). Blatt 2: "Aiolus gibt Odysseus die Schläuche mit den widrigen Winden" - "Odysseus rettet sich vor der Gewalt der Laistrygonen" - "Hermes verrät Odysseus das Kraut gegen Zauberei" aus dem Dritten Saal. Blatt 3: "Odysseus will Kirke töten" aus dem Dritten Saal. - "Wiedervereinigung des Odysseus mit Penelope" aus dem Sechsten Saal. Die Wandmalereien nach Homers Odyssee in den Odysseussälen des Festsaalbaues der Münchner Residenz wurden im Zweiten Weltkrieg schwer beschädigt und deshalb im Rahmen des Wiederaufbaues nicht wiederhergestellt.
