3rd-7th century AD. A plano-convex banded agate appliqué with intaglio motif of Hermes(?) advancing with fronds in one hand and fish in the other, legend to the border '????? CMOICI'. 2.15 grams, 22mm (1"). Acquired on the London art market in the late 1980s. The use of 'lunate sigma' (C) indicates that the text was written after the 4th century BC when this character was popularised as an alternative to the standard form of the letter (?"). Very fine condition.
1st century AD. A sardonyx cabochon with intaglio profile bust of Mercury (Hermes) with petasos and caduceus to the rear, set into a later gold finger ring comprising a substantial hoop with flared shoulders and stepped bezel. 21.07 grams, 28.96mm overall, 18.13mm internal diameter (approximate size British Q, USA 8, Europe 18, Japan 16) (1 1/8"). Property of a London gentleman; acquired by his father in the 1970s; thence by descent. Very fine condition. A large wearable size.

Overall good condition. Gold hardware lightly tarnished. Carrying handle cracked, 3 cm split where leather joins frame front left and small scuffs to base corners. Four Hermes scarves comprising Les Normands( Norman conquest scenes), Etriers (stirrups), Cheval Turc (Arab horse) and La Promenade de Longchamps depicting carriages and passengers, together with three others by Yves St. Laurent, Lourenti and Saks 5th Avenue (7). Hermes scarves show clear signs of use and marks from makeup.

A collection of 1920's and later French textile and wallpaper designs from the Bianchini Ferier archive, including typical Art Deco floral and geometric designs. Bianchini Ferier was one of the world's most prestigious textile design companies in its day, employing the artist Raoul Dufy to work exclusively on their designs. The company also produced fabrics for the major couture houses of the 20th century, including Worth, Lanvin, Chanel, and Hermes scarf designs. Many of their designs are now included in important museum collections. (8).
