An Anglo-Chinese fire screen, early 20th centuryThe beech frame of near square form set on plain bracket feet, inset with a series of Chinese embroidered silk garment fragments, worked with a dragon chasing a flaming pearl and further dragons to border panels, surrounded by lishui stripes and waves, 61cm wide x 72cm high.Condition report: Textile elements: fair to good with some minor staines and general signs of age.Frame: Good with some cosmetic marks, dints and old scratches consistent with age and use.
A Chinese lacquer fan or handheld fire screen, late Qing Dynasty, of oval profile on a plain handle, to one side decorated with boys in a landscape and to the other with a four-character blessing, 45.5cm long, fan 26cm wide.Condition report: Multiple surface chips and flakes to lacquer. Fractures to the handle at the base of the fan. Lacquer losses to the finial. Rubing to the gilt. General surface wear and signs of age and use throughout.

1930’s RAF Upavon Chrome Plated Fire Screen, fine example of a chrome plated fire screen which was removed from RAF Upavon when the station was closed. Deco style example with insignia of the station, being an aircraft rising up to the stars with green backing. Reverse of the shield with “RAF UPAVON” details. Stands 67cms. Royal Air Force Upavon is a former RAF station in Wiltshire, England. It was a grass airfield, military flight training school, and administrative headquarters of the Royal Air Force. The station opened in 1912 and closed in 1993.
