Goldscheider figure of a lady modelled playing a banjo, a small figure sits leaning against her legs playing cymbals, impressed and painted marks to base, (some damages) 37cm high Condition report: Broken and restuck at her lower legs, her arm and the banjo neck restuck in four places. An attempt has been made to cover these joints using picture frame gilt. There is a firing crack to her lower skirt.

Archibald Wells (1874-) `The Cymbals Player` an oil on canvas, in original oak frame, with painted monogram and potted orange trees painted monogram to frame image 65 x 55cm. Archibald Wells was born in Glasgow moving to Australia as a child where he studied art in Sydney. He returned to Britain, settling in Rye, Sussex and his work was exhibited at the New English Art Club in 1918.
Musical Automaton "Polichinelle" by Roullet & Decamps, c. 1890 With Jumeau bisque head stamped in red "Déposé Tête Jumeau 1", closed mouth, fixed brown paperweight eyes, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, bisque shoulderplate and arms, standing with bass drum and cymbal on stand, on velvet-covered base with single-air going-barrel movement causing figure to turn her head, beat the drum and clash the cymbals, in original two-color satin costume, metallic embroidered silk underskirt and upturned shoes trimmed with ribbons, height 18 1/2 in. (47 cm), costume fragile in back and sleeves, right thumb chipped. - Literature: Bailly, "Automata, the Golden Age", p. 305 in RD catalogue. - An attractive automaton in original working condition. A Military Practise Side Drum by Premier, inscribed Pipe-Drum Batter, the red spangled body with eight chromium plated suspension struts, in a canvas case, together with a spare snare, a quantity of drum sticks, sheet music and a belt; a pair of cymbals. **This drum was used for practise sessions and cocktail parties.
