3x British Officers Identity Discs of Lancers Interest, consisting of a fine example made in sterling silver, engraved to the front “LIEUT E C RADCLIFFE 9TH LANCERS C.E” reverse side engraved “Derriford, Crown Hill, S. Devon”; fine hallmarked silver tag made by Asprey London, engraved “LIEUT A C M PYM 16TH LANCERS C OF E”, interestingly the previous rank has been scratched off (2nd); sterling silver Id tag engraved “CAPT GEORGE WHELER 21ST (EMPRESS OF INDIA’S) LANCERS”. (3 items) The Imperial War Museum have a photograph of Lieutenant Radcliffe in their “Bond of Sacrifice” collection; Lieutenant Arthur Charles Melville Pym was born in 1887, he served in France with the 16th Lancers and later Royal Air Force. He was mentioned in despatches 1st January 1916; Captain George Bevil Hastings Wheeler MC, was adjutant East Kent Yeomanry 1912, served at Gallipoli, mentioned in despatches in 1916 for France & Flanders. Later served out in the Middle East with the 21st Lancers.

Ⓐ A GUIDON OF THE LONG/LOWER ASHTON LIGHT DRAGOONS¦A double-sided green silk guidon of a Devon or Somerset unit^ bearing painted decoration in gold and proper colours. The obverse with the crown above an image of Britannia within a circlet inscribed ~KING AND COUNTRY~ in gold letters on a red ground. Between the circlet and the hoist^ a small armorial with the crest of a lion rampant^ the shield with a lion rampant impaled with St Patrick~s Cross and the Red Hand of Ulster^ and a scroll inscribed ~EN DIEU EST MON ESPERANCE~. Gold-edged cartouches^ two bearing the Horse of Hanover^ the other two with title ~L ASHTON LD~. The reverse similar^ but with central device of a ~GR~ cypher in gold within a wreath of rose and thistle. Edged with gold or silver fringe^ in a double-sided glazed frame.¦¦All proceeds to benefit Westminster Abbey¦¦Provenance¦¦The Hon David McAlpine¦¦The only places listed in the atlas for Great Britain or Ireland which could be ~L ASHTON~ are Long Ashton in North Somerset and Lower Ashton in Devon. The only families listed in Fairbairn~s Crests with the motto ~EN DIEU EST MON ESPERANCE~ are Gerard and Walmesley^ both of Lancashire. The Gerard crest is a lion rampant^ but other details do not match^ and the St Patrick~s cross and Red Hand on the armorial have no obvious connection with either of the Ashton villages.

AN ART DECO CROWN DEVON FIELDING'S ORIENT PATTERN POT AND COVER with geometric and flower decoration in green, orange, white and gilt on black ground, printed marks and pattern number 2115 to base, 10cm high x 13cm diameter, together with a Carlton Ware Bullrushes pattern two handled vase, 12.5cm high Condition Report: pot and cover - all over light crazing. Lid does have a crack. vase - nice condition.
