A mid-19th century Russian silver cigarette case of rectangular form with canted corner and niello decorated textured ground and two opposing cartouches, one initialled AL in Latin alphabet, maker's initials NF, assayer Victor Savinkov, Moscow 1869, 11 x 6c, approx 4.4ozt. CONDITION REPORT: A number of dents to both sides, surface wear with scratches and nicks throughout, rubbing to the niello throughout and particularly to where frequently handled.
GEORGE NATHAN & RIDLEY HAYES; a Victorian hallmarked silver cigarette case of curved rounded rectangular form overall embossed with scrolls and floral motifs centred with a shaped initialled cartouche to the hinged lid, Chester 1895, 9 x 6.5cm, approx 2.9ozt. CONDITION REPORT: The front is compressed which also caused the lid not to close properly (approx 2mm gap between edges, but it clicks), the embossed decoration is possibly later as it slightly interferes with hallmarks, minor surface wear to include a scratch to the cartouche and rubbing to the raised parts throughout, residues of cleaning products to the inside.
