A late 19th to early 20th Century Black Forest writing table of oval form, the top with elaborate foliate fret-cut decoration and carved detail, fitted with two hinged compartments, a quill cutter, candle holder, stamp box and twin brass ink wells, all raised to a triple scroll applied acanthus support and a tripod base, 58cm wide and 76cm high.
A Victorian spirit kettle and stand by Charles Robb & Son, Edinburgh 1857-1858, the bulbous body with chased and embossed decoration of foliate and scrolls, with scroll cartouches, one engraved R in script, the domed hinged cover with bud finial, scroll handle with ivory insulators and semi fluted spout; the tripod stand with floral and scroll pierced border and raised on three double scroll and shell terminal feet overall height 34cm, total weight 42oz
A 19th century 2Nin brass telescope by Cary, the 31in tube stamped 'CARY, Optician, 181 Strand, London,' with day tube and eyepieces, on a folding tripod, in a fitted mahogany box and a large folding oak and brass tripod. Provenance - Rev C.S.Ward, Wotton St Lawrence, near Basingstoke; Helen Whistler; Laurence Whistler, The Old Manor, Alton Barnes, Marlborough, Wilts and thence by decent.
