Der Frontmann der 1962 gegründeten `Rolling Stones`, die zum damaligen Zeitpunkt bereits zahlreiche Amerika- und Europatourneen hinter sich hatten und nicht nur durch ihre progressive Musik, sondern auch durch ihre provozierenden Bühnenshows zu weltweitem Ruhm gelangt waren, galt geradezu als Sinnbild einer allen bisherigen gesellschaftlichen Konventionen wehrenden Freiheit. Der Sonderling Warhol, der selbst seit den 1960er Jahren mit weiß-blond gefärbter Perücke und schwarzer Sonnenbrille sein Markenzeichen gefunden hatte, muss in Mick Jagger eine Art exzentrisches Alter-Ego erkannt haben, das ihn zu epochalen Porträtdarstellungen inspiriert hat. Das vorliegende Unikat, welches die auf Folie ausgeführte Serigrafie mit der dahinterliegen Collage zu einer abstrakt-figürlichen Komposition verbindet, muss im Zuge der Konzeptionierung des gleichnamigen Portfolios mit 10 Farbserigrafien aus dem Jahr 1975 (vgl.
