Dictorum et factorum meorabilum tam Romanorum, quam extremorum Collectanea... , Paris: Jean Petit for [Ambroise Girault], 1535, title-page within woodcut architectural border and with printer's woodcut device, woodcut floral criblé initials throughout, amateur paper repair to lower outer margin of title with paper loss touching printed border only, some wormholes to lower outer corners throughout with running wormhole slightly affecting some text and side-notes of early leaves, scattered light browning and minor damp fraying to extremities of a few early leaves, old manuscript provenance note to front free endpaper, 'Bought at Sotheby's - from the library of Archbishop Tenison, 1862', armorial bookplate of John Ynyr Burges to front pastedown, contemporary(?) Venetian gilt-panelled calf with central interlaced arabesque design with scalloped corner-pieces, professional modern reback and corner restoration, folio Thomas Tenison, Archbishop 1694-1715, was a notable benefactor of libraries, and the founder of Archbishop Tenison's Library at St Martin-in-the-Fields. An Arts & Crafts hammered silver twin handled tazza, hallmarked Birmingham 1910, maker's mark of G L Connell LtdThe pierced bowl with heart motifs; together with an Art Nouveau two piece cruet, hallmarked Sheffield 1906, maker's mark of Henry Wilkinson, comprising: pepperette and blue glass lined salt and spoon, both of waisted form with organic handles. The tazza 14 cm high overall. (3) CONDITION REPORTS: All generally in good condition, expected wear, approximately 218 grammes of weighable silver.

A Newport Pottery Clarice Cliff preserve pot and cover decorated with a tree beside an orange roof cottage, printed marks to base, height 8.5cm, a Wilkinson Clarice Cliff cup decorated with floral sprays, height 7cm and a Clarice Cliff "Bizarre" mottled brown glaze sparrow beak jug, height 7cm (3). CONDITION REPORT: Cup quite scratched. A 2mm hairline to lid of preserve pot. Overall condition OK.
A Victorian 1845 Pattern Infantry Officer’s Sword by Wilkinson of 30 Cockspur Street, London of standard production specification the slightly curved blade bearing the makers name at the ricasso, etched with VR royal cypher below crown within panels of foliage, gilt-brass hilt with folding guard and VR cartouche, in its steel scabbard, 82cm blade.
An 1888 Pattern Lee-Metford Mark I Type II Bayonet by Wilkinson of standard production specification bearing the makers name at the ricasso, ‘2 91’ (Feb. 1891) and WD broad arrow, the pommel typically stamped with various number systems, in its steel mounted black leather scabbard, 31cm blade.
'A Few Careless Words May End in This', a public information poster circa 1940 with an image after Norman Wilkinson of a steamer sinking aft first in choppy waters with a lifeboat in the foreground, the image and text against a white ground, approx 51 x 38cm. Provenance: this poster belonged to the vendor's grandfather who worked for Lancashire County Council in a clerical post during the Second World War, they have been in storage for 20 years since being inherited. CONDITION REPORT Very nicely presented. Some discolouration commensurate with age. The posters have been in storage for twenty years.
Bechuanaland Protectorate Police Officer’s Sword. A rare Elizabeth II period example by Henry Wilkinson of London, which closely follows the British Army Infantry style. The blade is etched with a Crowned EIIR cypher with floral decoration. The hilt with an open bar guard incorporating a Royal Coat of Arms and title “Bechuanaland Protectorate Police” The shagreen grip with twist wire binding. Housed in polished field service scabbard, knot and sword frog. One small area of the blade with rust spot, otherwise very good clean condition.
5th Royal Irish Lancers Officer’s Regimentally Etched Bladed Sword by Wilkinson. A scarce example by Wilkinson of London. The bladed etched with a Regimental device of the 5th Lancers, also the original owners name “G.B. Atkinson”. To the forte the Wilkinson trade mark and to the back of the blade the number “43049”. The hilt with honeysuckle design guard and the shagreen grip retaining twist wire binding. Scabbard absent some wear to the plating. The Sword was made in 1911. At the outbreak of the Great war it appears that Lt G.B. Atkinson was serving with the Reserve of Officers attached to the 5th Lancers. He landed in France on the 19th September 1914.

An unusual early-Victorian silver lidded mug, by Henry Wilkinson and Co, Sheffield 1837, campana form, embossed and applied foliate decoration, leaf capped scroll handle, the correctly marked hinged cover with a cauliflower finial, on a shaped circular foliate foot, height 12.5cm, approx. weight 6oz.
A Victorian silver engraved 'castle-top' card case, Norton Hall, Sheffield, by H. Wilkinson, Sheffield 1851, rectangular form, the front with a view of the House, with engraved foliate scroll decoration, the reverse with similar scroll decoration and engraved with a crest, length 10cm, approx. weight 3.2oz. Provenance: Christie's Interiors, South Kensington, 12 March 2003, lot 94.
