Royal Artillery Victorian Officer’s Sword by Wilkinson Sword of LondonThe sword is the 1821 pattern; the slightly curved blade with etched decoration which includes a crowned VR cypher and family crest with “CES”. The forte with cutler’s details of Wilkinson and with blade number ‘15808’ indicting 1867. The hilt with a three bar open guard and shagreen grip retaining twist wire binding. Housed in leather field service scabbard. The vendor believes this sword was carried by Brigadier Norman Vause Sadler OBE DCM., TD who after service at Gallipoli with the Westminster Dragoons, was attached to the topographical section of the Royal Engineers earning the DCM and during the Battle of Britain Commanded the Dover Anti Aircraft Defences resulting in the award of the OBE and would then be present during the Siege of Malta commanding AA guns. WW2 4 Commando Attributed 1st pattern Fairbairn-Sykes Commando fighting knife.A good and rare carried example, attributed to Driver Frank William Maund of the Royal Artillery who served with 4 Commando The hilt with nickel grip of chequered design. Double edged spear point blade, the ricasso with etched panel Wilkinson Sword Ltd. London, the reverse side the F-S Fighting Knife. Recurved cross guard. Housed in an early pattern brown leather scabbard with nickel rounded chape. Tailored with a leather thong retaining strap the four tangs have been removed. The overall condition is good hard working used knife. The chequered grip is worn through use, the scabbard with field adaptations by the owner and the upper section is fragile. Blade length 16.3cm The Attribution for this knife is given by the vendor, Bosleys have only been able confirm the supplied name served with 4 Commando. Attributed to Driver Frank William Maund of the Royal Artillery who is confirmed as serving with 4 Commando, he was Mentioned in Despatches on the 27th May 1941, this believed to correspond with the 4 Commando Raid on the Lofoten Islands Norway which took place on the 4th March 1941. Still serving with 4 Commando he was reported wounded on the 4th July 1944 whilst fighting in North West Europe.

A fine Indian silver pedestal rose or small punch bowl by Oomersee Mawjee, Bhuj, Kutch, c.1900, incuse stamped ‘O.M’ and ‘BHUJ, with well modelled twin elephant head handles, the flowering scroll foliate panels with birds, one centred by a vacant reserve, on a foliate calyx with a circular pedestal, 20.5cm (8in) high, 32.5cm (12.75in) wide overall, 1408g (45.25 oz). Two Gotham Post newspapers from Christopher Nolan's superhero film Batman Begins. A copy of the Gotham Post was held by Commissioner Loeb (Colin McFarlane) during a briefing with the Gotham Police Department the morning after crime lord Carmine Falcone (Tom Wilkinson) was arrested.Printed on newspaper stock, the Gotham Post masthead runs across the top of the front page of each newspaper, and the headlines read "Greed! Attempted murder for Inheritance" and "Exposed! Police get Drugs Ring Tip off", with the latter displaying an image of Falcone chained to a searchlight. Both newspapers contain several filler pages featuring repeated articles and unrelated news content. The lot displays minor wear and light creasing from production use.
