A French Marble Portico Mantel Clock, signed Cachard, Sucr de ChLeRoi, circa 1790], the drum shaped case with urn finial, flanked by the black marble and ormolu foliate apron, 4-1/2-inch white enamel dial with Roman and Arabic chapter signed "Cachard, Sucr de ChLeRoi", twin barrel movement with outside countwheel striking on a bell, 53cm high *Cachard was a famous maker in Paris during the last 20 years of the 18th century and was successor to the firm of Charles LeRoy. Similar clocks by the same maker are today exhibited in the Garde Meuble in Paris, Chateau de la Malmaison and the Hamburg Museum fur Kunst und Gewerbe.
