19TH CENTURY FRENCH EBONISED AND BOULLE WORK ARCHITECTURAL PORTICO CLOCK, having arched pediment over circular enamel face with Roman numerals, supported on four barley twist columns on a gilt metal mounted, stepped base with paw feet. Two train drum movement striking on one bell and having repousse gilt metal pendulum. 51cm high approx.(B.P. 24% incl. VAT) CONDITION REPORT: Some damage to the face which has been touched up a little bit, there are a couple of hair cracks notable, otherwise appearing complete, rather grubby, with wear and tear commensurate with age.
A rosewood and inlaid portico clock, 19th century, typical form, with inlaid pediment above a silvered dial in gilt metal swan foliate and scroll mount and flanked by gilt mounted columns all above an inlaid base. Width 26 cm, height 49.5 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The movement winds on both trains. It is ticking away and striking when advanced. We have the pendulum however the thin metal suspension strip is broken. The silvered brass dial is showing signs of tarnishing. The case pediment has small sections of boxwood stringing missing. The cornice and lower pediment are in good condition. The front right hand pillar has some boxwood stringing missing and some veneer losses. The other pillars have minor losses and no significant problems. The base is in good order all around.

Thereafter, the clock was purchased by Partridges of London at auction, and upon their liquidation it was owned by a Mr Hunt of Derbyshire, and from April 2010 the present owner.13.02.18, Metal surfaces are discoloured in parts, dial with minor staining marks, topside of the pediment with one small dent, back of the pediment with scratches, movement needs cleaning, in going order and striking.
