Mougin, along with the serial number 3531, the pendulum bob decorated with a cast-brass basket of flowers, the round white enamel dial having black Arabic hour numerals with coloured swags of flowers between and decorative gilt-brass hands, the pink variegated marble case of serpentine portico form surmounted by a matching marble urn, with corner finials to the centre piece, all with applied gilt-metal mounts, with a pair of matching side pieces, height 42cm. * Biography; A.D. Mougin is recorded as a good maker of French clocks in the late 1800's working at Rue de Turenne, 75, Paris which was also the address used by the trio of clockmakers Marti, Roux and Japy who joined forces in an attempt to defend against the cheaper imports coming into France at this time.
