An English porcelain two handled cabinet tray, early to mid 19th century, finely painted in polychrome enamels of the Virgin Mary and the infant child Christ all within an apple green ground border with gilt foliate garlands with geometric decorated band, shaped handles with gilt floral medallions with leafy terminals, inscribed verso Virgin and Child, 31.5 cm diameter (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: There are four very tiny surface scratches to the right hand side of the quatrefoil in the centre panel, three of these are smaller than a pin head. There is some very light rubbing to the bottom edge gilt rim. There are tiny scratch marks to each handle (almost invisible to the naked eye but can be seen using a jewellers loupe). The body rings out nicely when lightly tapped.
A Benham and Froud copper jelly mould, 19th century, stamped R. Fortt and with struck manufacturers mark No. 181, 15.5 cm diameter. CONDITION REPORT: Using a high powered light there are two small pin sized holes to the upper right hand scroll and has a small indention directly beneath the holes, a further indentation to 2 cm away and a smaller indentation to the lower part of the scroll body, but these indentations are minor and not overly detrimental. All other scrolls appear to be intact. There is the usual reside of metal polish in all crevices. The zinc lining of the zinc painted interior has rubbed through to the copper body on all high points. There are no cracks or splits visible. There are however, some minor surface marks. The well at the very top of the mould is this, if comparable to silver one would think that a monogram or inscription has been rubbed out, however there are no signs of any engravings but it is this to the touch.
Two Minton handpainted cups and saucers, mid 19th century, hand painted with floral sprays one beneath an apple green border with gilt decorations with moulded rim heightened with gilding pattern 549, the other with floral sprays beneath gilt c scrolls and trellis on a turquoise ground with moulded gilt rim, pattern number 5028, 14.8 cm and 14.3 cm diameter. CONDITION REPORT: The turquoise ground saucer and matching cup is in good decorative order throughout with no obvious signs of cracks, chips or restoration. There are two pin head sized surface to the turquoise border to the interior of the cup, it rings out when lightly tapped. The green ground cup has numerous pin head sized scratches to the interior green border. The gilt handle is 40% worn. There are small spots of gilt rubbing on the rim. The teacup is structurally sound with no obvious visible chips, cracks or restorations and rings out nicely when lightly tapped. Its matching saucer has rubbing on the high moulded points on the interior and also on the interior gilding. The rim gilding is in good decorative order. There are no obvious visible signs of chips, cracks or restorations. The saucer rings our nicely when lightly tapped.
A Chinese blue and white prunus pattern ginger jar, late 19th century, having a slightly domed cover, with two blue concentric ring marks to the underside, all upon a carved hardwood stand, overall height including stand 31 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The lid has been broken in half and glued. There are small pin head size heating and piling spots throughout the body, however this is a manufacturing flaw. The vase rings out nicely when lightly tapped. The wood base is in good order although it does have some light marks where the vase has sat and also some very light rub marks on the feet.
A Victorian diamond brooch, formerly the centre piece of a tiara, with silver mounts with gold back, set with old cut diamonds comprising a central cluster flanked by scrolls with plumes above. Total diamond weight +/- 7 carats. The brooch pin being detachable by means of a screw to the reverse. Total weight 19.3 grams. Width 6.5 cm (see illustration).
A Chinese hardwood coffee table, the top inset with blue foliate cloisonné plaques. 83 cm x 46 cm x 33 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The cloisonné panels are held in with brass pins. The left hand roundel has small cloisonné surface losses (starting at 12 o'clock and running through to 2 o'clock). There is a small chip to the edge where the securing pin is (situated at 7 o'clock). The remainder of the panel appears to be in good decorative order. The right hand panel has a chip where a securing pin hold the panel in place (7 o'clock). There are further small chips at 10 o'clock again where a securing pin is place. There is a tiny surface chip to the edge of one of the small flowers which frame the central flower (at 11 o'clock). A further chip to the blue ground on the top side of the large flower located at 3 o'clock. This is approximately 4 mm x 2 mm in size. Both panels have surface scratches. The wood table again has surface scratches albeit light and some age splits where the joints are. There is a tiny section missing on the outside of the left hand panel located at 4 o'clock. The top right hand edge has a scuff mark. There are ten scuff marks along the bottom edge of the top. There are numerous white paint spots to the surface of the table which can obviously be easily removed. All the legs have fine hairline splits but none are open.
A Nazi Labour Day "Tag der Arbeit" pin badge, by P. Erich Bruckmann, Menden i.w., a lighter in the form of a bullet, a silver metal and enamel badge with initials "WRMW", six 19th century livery buttons decorated with a swan by Pitt & Co., 50 St. Martins Lane, London, and a 15th North Auckland Regiment Great War cap badge.
Three Chinese celadon ground dishes, 20th century, one of rectangular form the other two graduated and shaped, each with white floral relief decoration and a pair of blue glazed vase stands, widest dish 24.5 cm, vase stands 19.5 cm diameter. CONDITION REPORT: The smaller shaped celadon dish has a 2 mm long firing hairline crack to the left hand rim. There is a small amount of pitting within the interior of the bowl. There are four pinhead size holes to the glaze on the exterior where an air bubble has popped. All faults mentioned are manufacturing faults. The larger shaped celadon dish has a small iron oxide spot to the front of the rim. The interior of the bowl has numerous pitting spots. The exterior sides of the bowl has four small firing spots where an air bubble has burst or where the glaze has not joined. All faults are manufacturing faults. The rectangular celadon dish has a small spot on the rim where the glaze has not joined. There are two small pin head size glaze holes where an air bubble has popped. There is a small pinhead size spot of iron oxide in the glaze. The interior base has lots of pinhead size pitting marks. The two long sides each have two pinhead size glaze holes where an air bubble has popped one of the shorter sides has three pinhead size air holes where an air bubble has popped. On one of the longer sides there is a very very faint 3 cm brown line which looks to be an inclusion in the glaze and is not a crack. All faults are manufacturing faults. One of the blue stands is missing a foot. The other stand has had a foot broken off and re-attached with glue. Other than those faults mentioned there appear to be no further issues.
