Three pieces of vintage jewellery, a purple paste pendant surrounded with seed pearls on a curb link chain 40cm long with box fastener marked 9ct, approximate weight of chain 5.5gms, a yellow metal 60mm bar brooch marked 9ct with metal pin set with an aquamarine and six seed pearls, another similar brooch set with a synthetic pink stone and seed pearls, 50mm.
5th-6th century AD. A two-edged sword comprising a lentoid-section iron parallel-sided blade with broad pointed tip; bronze rectangular lower guard with gilding to reverse and garnet cloisonné to the obverse, tubular bronze grip with rectangular cell and inset garnet cloison, biconvex agate disc with washer and retaining pin through the tang; mounted on a custom-made stand. For garnet cloisonné lower guard see Menghin, W. Das Schwert im Frühen Mittelalter, Stuttgart, 1983, item 47 (Arcy - St. Restitue, France ) and 56 (Planig, Germany, grave 1"). 4.6 kg total, 87cm including stand (34 1/4"). From the family collection of a South East London collector; formerly acquired in the late 1950s; accompanied by a metallurgic analytical report written by Metallurgist Dr. Brian Gilmour of the Research Laboratory for Archaeology and the History of Art, University of Oxford, report number 134792. Very fine condition. Battle notches to the edges.

A group of iron weapon components comprising: a domed shield boss with central spike, broad flange with three attachment studs, roves to the reverse; a rectangular shield-grip with waisted middle, substantial studs; a substantial francisca blade with swept profile, curved edge and square rear to the socket; head of a thrusting spear with lozenge-section leaf-shaped blade, short neck, tapering closed socket; head of a throwing spear with thick leaf-shaped blade and short closed socket, attachment pin still in situ. 1st millennium BC. A spectacle brooch formed as two large tightly-wound coils with 8-shaped intermediate coils, remains of pin and catchplate to the reverse. 242 grams, 17.8cm (7"). Property of a European gentleman; formerly acquired on the German art market before 1980. Very fine condition.
10th-11th century AD. A parcel-gilt silver boar-head brooch with integral backplate; the body formed as a hollow case with upstanding ears and flat end to the muzzle; reserved raised band to the upper face separating two panels of scrolled ornament; to the sides and rear, panels of scrolled tendrils; backplate with trapezoidal slot, pin-lugs, integral catchplate. 9th-11th century AD. A silver penannular brooch formed from three rods twisted about each other, three applied twisted decorative wires in between, the arms tapering with angled terminals; engraved polyhedral finials, larger faces engraved with lozenges within a dotted border, pellet-and-triangles to the smaller faces; separate twisted pin with large flat-section loop, decorated with stamped annulets and wolf's tooth motifs. 58.8 grams, 62mm (2 1/2"). From a London W1, UK, collection; acquired on the German art market before 2000. [No Reserve]Very fine condition.
5th-6th century AD. A large gilt-bronze disc brooch comprising a chamfered outer rim, band of guilloche around central disc with four radiating petals and central hole; two pin-lugs to the reverse. Recorded with the Portable Antiquities Scheme under reference WAW-D0BED7. 18.5 grams, 45mm (2"). Found Worcestershire, UK, in 2007; accompanied by a copy of the Portable Aniquities Scheme report number WAW-D0BED7. The brooch is not a typical saucer brooch, being too flat to fit the criteria for that type, but it nevertheless bears a decorative scheme which is typical of that group. Fine condition. Rare.
6th century AD. A matched pair of silver-gilt bow brooches, each with rectangular headplate and geometric detailing, short bow, long lozenge footplate with raised border and midrib, beast-head finial with garnet cabochon eyes, pin-lug and catch to the reverse. Cf. Beck, H. et al. Fibel und Fibeltracht, Berlin, 2000, item 154(3) for type. 53.65 grams total, 92mm (3 1/2"). From an old European collection; acquired in Munich in the 1970s.
