Tommy Smith and Ian Callaghan autographed large photo. High quality 16x12 photograph signed by Liverpool legends Tommy Smith and Ian Callaghan seen here after winning the 1977 European Cup Final. The 1977 European Cup Final was an association football match between Liverpool of England and Borussia Monchengladbach of Germany on 25 May 1977 at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, Italy (the venue was decided in Bern by the UEFA Executive Committee on 17 September 1976). The showpiece event was the final match of the 1976-77 season of Europe's premier cup competition, the European Cup. Both teams were appearing in their first European Cup final, although the two sides had previously met in the 1973 UEFA Cup Final, which Liverpool won 3-2 on aggregate over two legs. Each club needed to progress through four rounds to reach the final. Matches were contested over two legs, with a match at each team's home ground. Liverpool's victories varied from close affairs to comfortable victories. They beat the previous season's runners-up Saint-Étienne by a single goal over two legs, while they defeated FC Zürich 6-1 on aggregate in the semi-final. Borussia Monchengladbach's route to the final was more difficult; all but one of their ties were won by a margin of just one goal. Watched by a crowd of 57, 000, Liverpool took an early lead through Terry McDermott, but Allan Simonsen equalised for Monchengladbach early in the second half. Liverpool regained the lead midway through the second half with a goal from Tommy Smith, and Phil Neal ensured Liverpool won the match 3-1 to secure their first European Cup. The victory was a year after they had won the UEFA Cup, which meant that Bob Paisley became the first manager to win the UEFA Cup and European Cup in successive seasons. Good Condition. Football League cup final programme 1978 Liverpool v Nottingham Forest from Wembley stadium signed by Brian Clough, John Robertson, Bob Paisley, Ray Clemence, Phil Neal, Tommy Smith, Emlyn Hughes, Phil Thompson, Jimmy Case, Terry McDermott, Joe Fagan, Steve Heighway and Ian Callaghan. The 1978 Football League Cup Final was the eighteenth League Cup final and was contested between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest. The initial match resulted in a 0-0 draw at Wembley Stadium on 18 March 1978. The replay was four days later at Old Trafford and saw John Robertson score from the penalty spot after a foul by Phil Thompson on John O'Hare, which TV replays confirmed was actually outside the penalty area. Another refereeing decision caused further controversy when an equalising goal from Liverpool's Terry McDermott was ruled out for handball, despite TV replays again confirming that the decision was wrong, with McDermott controlling the ball not with his arm, but taking it cleanly on his chest before hammering a thunderbolt past future England goalkeeper Chris Woods. The contentious 1-0 score-line was enough to win the cup for Forest, who thus became the first club to achieve a League and League Cup double. Good Condition. All signed items come with our certificate of authenticity. We combine postage on multiple winning lots and can ship worldwide. UK postage from £3.95, EU from £4.99, Overseas from £7.95

He left Tottenham for LA Galaxy in 2011, and in January 2012 went to Aston Villa on a two-month loan during the Major League Soccer off-season.
