Lot 447

1965 BSA Bantam D7 Super, 175cc. Registration number BJC 224C. Frame number D7 45777. Engine number FD7 9853 (see text). Sold with the V5C, please note the V5C states the engine number to be FD7 4973. The Bantam was based on the German DKW RT 125, a design that was received as war reparations, with the Bantam as a mirror image so the gear change was on the right side as with other British motorcycles of the period. Over the years the model evolved through the D1 of 1948 to the D3, D5, the D7 in 1959. The D7 Super engine remained largely unchanged and had the same three-speed gearbox, the new model had an entirely new swinging arm frame, uprated brakes and hydraulically damped forks, a nacelle-mounted headlamp, slimmed down mudguards and a sporty petrol tank; it was available in up-to-the-minute colours like Fuchsia Red and Sapphire Blue. BJC was bought from these salerooms in January as a project and has now been fully stripped, repainted and rebuilt to a high level. It has appeared at local shows and our vendor is now looking for an older project to replace it. Sold with the V5C, please note the V5C states the engine number to be FD7 4973.

Lot 410

1960 Lambretta 150Li, 150cc. Registration number 520 XVK (non transferrable). Frame number 150LI 860451. Engine number 150LI 860968. Sold with the V5C, bound photographic record of the restoration and other paperwork. It should only require gentle recommissioning for road use. Manufactured by the Italian industrial giant Innocenti, the Lambretta scooter gained widespread acceptance in the 1950s, its cleanliness and convenience in particular appealing to those who regarded the true motorcycle with suspicion. Following the unreliable TV 175 Series 1, Lambretta went back to the drawing board to create one of its all-time greats: the Li. The Li was built as either a 125 or 150 using the bore/stroke dimensions of the preceding 'D' Series, producing 5.2hp and 6.5bhp respectively, while its new engine in over-bored form found its way into the revamped TV 175 Series 2 in 1959. The Li range was restyled along similar lines at the same time, with headlamp nacelle and faired-in handlebars, thus establishing the definitive Lambretta look that would endure until Italian production ceased in 1971. XVK has been subject to a full photographic restoration between March and June 2020 by G. Sawyer of Tyne and Wear. He bought it from Lambretta Finder in Belgium in February 2020 as a project machine, it comes with full dating certificate from the British Lambretta Archive confirming matching numbers, there are also photographs of two Italian tax discs from 1971 and 1974. Once completed it was sold to our vendor in the July, he has not used it, dry storing it in his collection and now has decided he wishes to upgrade to an SX. Sold with the V5C, bound photographic record of the restoration and other paperwork. It should only require gentle recommissioning for road use.

Lot 114

1989 Mercedes-Benz 280 GE Transmission: automaticMileage:123484The Mercedes-Benz G-Class or G-Wagon, short for Geländewagen, (cross-country vehicle) is characterised by its boxy styling and body-on-frame construction. It uses three fully locking differentials, one of the few vehicles to have such a feature. The G-Class is still in production and is one of the longest produced Mercedes-Benz in Daimler's history. It was developed as a military vehicle from a suggestion by the Shah of Iran and offered as a civilian version in 1979. The first major refinements were introduced in 1981, including an automatic transmission, air conditioning, an auxiliary fuel tank, protective headlamp grilles and a cable winch. Fuel injection became available in 1982 when the 230 GE was introduced in Turin, along with more comfortable and supportive front seats, auxiliary heating, wider tyres and fender flares. For 1985, differential locks, central door locking and a tachometer become standard. This lovely example is presented in metallic grey with grey cloth interior and is powered by its 2.7 litre six cylinder engine mated to an automatic gearbox. It is an original matching number car with a history file containing service receipts for the last four years and has the original manual. This Mercedes was stored between 2007 and 2019 hence its lovely condition inside and out! The interior is in wonderful original condition even retaining its original dashboard. It comes with a valid MoT test certificate which expires in October 2023. These are great recreation vehicles still suited for the purpose they were built but also look smart and retro for special occasions.

Lot 135

1992 Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon GES 300 Transmission: automaticMileage:103725The Mercedes-Benz G-Class or G-Wagon, short for Geländewagen (cross-country vehicle), is characterised by its boxy styling and body-on-frame construction. It uses three fully locking differentials, one of the few vehicles to have such a feature. The G-Class is still in production and is one of the longest produced Mercedes-Benz vehicles in their history with a span of 32 years. It was developed as a military vehicle from a suggestion by the Shah of Iran and offered as a civilian version in 1979. The first major refinements were introduced in 1981, including an automatic transmission, air conditioning, an auxiliary fuel tank, protective headlamp grilles and a cable winch. Fuel injection became available in 1982 when the 230GE was introduced in Turin, along with more comfortable and supportive front seats, auxiliary heating, wider tyres and wheel arches. For 1985, differential locks, central door locking and a tachometer became standard. This example is very well presented in metallic Beryll Blue, (which is actually Green in colour), with cream cloth trim. This GES 300 G-Wagon was originally supplied to Guernsey, the supplied service book shows it was first registered there on 12th June 1992. Unusually well appointed, this GES 300 comes supplied from the factory with metallic paint, automatic transmission, alloy wheels, heated front seats, electric front windows and even air conditioning. The service book also shows over 18 stamps and the accompanying history file shows many more receipts for maintenance and servicing work carried out during the vendor's ownership, many by main Mercedes-Benz dealerships. Today the car presents very well; the interior is well kept for a 31 year old 'utility' car, but perhaps this is indicative of the beginning of the luxury SUV market with little use as compared to a traditional utilitarian vehicle. The paint is also in good condition with only the odd blemish to be expected on a vehicle of this age. Owned by the vendor for the past 24 years, this is a very well-kept example, is in great condition throughout and is reported to run and drive very well, only now reluctantly offered for sale, due to the arrival of a new car. Supplied with the UK V5C registration document, MoT test certificate valid until 1st March 2024, an impressive history file, past MoT certificates, original Becker radio, jack, toolkit and first aid kit. To find such an original, good condition example of this 4x4 legend, let alone with such a comprehensive history file and so well optioned, is rare to say the least and an opportunity not to be missed.

Lot 192

1991 Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon GES 300 Transmission: automaticMileage:88500The Mercedes-Benz G-Class or G-Wagon, short for Geländewagen (cross-country vehicle), is characterised by its boxy styling and body-on-frame construction. This very well presented metallic Beryll Blue which is actually Green in colour with grey cloth trim this GES G-Wagon was originally purchased from Mercedes-Benz Bournemouth on 18th October 1991. Supplied with metallic paint, automatic transmission, wide alloy wheels and an electric sunroof, the then owner exchanged his 280 GES for the more powerful model which cost £37,143 at the time and included over £5,000 of optional extras. Today the car presents excellently; the interior is especially well kept for a 32 year old 'utility' car but perhaps this is indicative of the beginning of the luxury SUV market with little use as a utilitarian vehicle and the only upgrade are the headlights which are now LED. The history file is comprehensive with original sales brochures, original order and details from the supplying dealer together with numerous invoices. Owned by our vendor since 2020 this is a very well-kept example in great condition throughout.

Lot 258

2005 MG ZT Estate Transmission: manualMileage:63444In 2001, three years after the launch of the Rover 75, and less than a year after the demerger of MG Rover from BMW, the MG ZT and MG ZT-T were launched. During the cars' development, the models were codenamed X10 and X11, for the saloon and estate versions, respectively. The basic shape and styling of the MG ZT remained the same as for the Rover 75 but with changes to the front bumper, now with an integrated grille, and detail alterations including colour coding of the chromed waistline, a new boot lid plinth, and different alloy wheels and tyres sizes. During the first few months of 2004, MG Rover facelifted the design of the ZT and ZT-T to a less retro look, at the same time as the Rover 75 received a facelift. This didn't feature much in the way of mechanical differences to the ZT, most changes were merely aesthetic. The main changes to the car included the replacement of the twin headlamps, with a new, clear single headlamp unit. Between 2003 and 2006 the top of the ZT range, and the rarest, was rear wheel drive and powered by the Ford 4601cc V8 engine giving 300bhp, 0-60mph in 6.3 seconds and a top speed of 155mph.This rare MG ZT is best described as a 'wolf in sheep's clothing'. A relatively unassuming vehicle from the outside, with the only visible feature being the large bore exhausts. However, start the engine and suddenly you become aware of the Ford Mustang 4.6 litre V8 under the bonnet. This is mated to a five-speed manual gearbox making this a true drivers car and one to really enjoy on the open road. Performance is put at 260bhp and 407NM of torque. The interior is trimmed in black leatherette and cloth seats with electric windows, electric mirrors and digital climate control with air conditioning. Showing just 63,444 miles on the odometer, the previous owner fitted a bespoke (and very expensive)  stainless steel  exhaust system with sports cats and central silencer box, coupled to an OE back-box, helping  unleash a little more sound of the American dream. Supplied with a V5C registration document and a current MoT test certificate valid until October 2023, together with the original book pack and a collection of invoices. This stylish MG estate is both a capable load carrier and a truly exciting car to drive. These were built in relatively small numbers, it is thought less than 200 were manufactured, thus this could well prove to be a fine investment.Guide £8,000- £11,000

Lot 234

1988 Mercedes-Benz 280 GE G-Wagon Transmission: automaticMileage:90991The Mercedes-Benz G-Class or G-Wagon, short for Geländewagen, (cross-country vehicle), is characterised by its boxy styling and body-on-frame construction. It uses three fully locking differentials, one of the few vehicles to have such a feature. The G-Class is still in production and is one of the longest produced Mercedes-Benz in Daimler's history with a span of 32 years. The G-class was developed as a military vehicle from a suggestion by the Shah of Iran and offered as a civilian version in 1979. The first major refinements were introduced in 1981, including an automatic transmission, air conditioning, an auxiliary fuel tank, protective headlamp grilles and a cable winch. Fuel injection became available in 1982 when the 230 GE was introduced in Turin, along with more comfortable and supportive front seats, auxiliary heating, wider tyres, and fender flares. For 1985, differential locks, central door locking, and a tachometer become standard. This very original example is presented in metallic grey with cloth 'Recaro' interior and comes with automatic transmission, front grille mounted fog lights and a fitted tow bar. It had a 'short' engine replacement at 36,562 miles which is documented in the history file and the odometer is currently showing a mere 91,000 miles which is very low for a vehicle of its age. This iconic 4x4 was last used on the road in 2008 and has been dried stored ever since. This 280 GE has recently had light recommissioning which entailed new brakes, battery, alternator, fuel pump, new shock absorbers, the fuel tank refurbished and four new Falken Wildpeak all-terrain tyres. The interior is in nice condition with the added benefit of having the extra rear seats, therefore offering the nine-seat option which is extremely useful and electric windows to the front and rear. This Mercedes-Benz 280 GE is supplied with a V5C registration document, an MoT test certificate which expires in April 2024, its original booklets, manuals, full set of overmats and a copy of its original data sheet. These 4x4 Mercedes-Benz have reached 'cult' status amongst enthusiasts.

1904 Oldsmobile Model 6C Curved Dash Runabout Engine no. 20559117.5ci Horizontally Mounted Single-Cylinder EngineSingle Downdraft CarburetorApprox. 7bhp at 600rpm2-Speed Planetary TransmissionLongitudinal Leaf Spring SuspensionClutch Band on Drive Sprocket Brake*Present ownership since the 1950s*Stalwart of many tours and events *Former AACA Prize Winner*Completed the Centenary London to Brighton in 1996*Icon of its era THE CURVED DASH OLDSMOBILE Known as the 'Curved Dash' for obvious reasons, Ransom Eli Olds's gasoline-powered runabout was first offered for sale in 1901, following a fire at the factory that had destroyed every other prototype. Over 11,000 of the three Curved Dash models ('R', '6C' and 'B') were constructed before production ceased in 1907, making it the first volume produced American automobile. The Model 'R' runabout was powered by a single-cylinder, 1.6-liter engine of 114x152mm bore/stroke, mounted horizontally at the rear and producing 4½ horsepower at 600rpm. Later '6C' and 'B' models benefited from a more-powerful (7hp) 1.9-liter engine, and all featured two-speed transmission and chain final drive.Several improvements to the design were made during the course of production, but the engine's basic layout remained unchanged. Two mechanically operated overhead valves were set side-by-side at 90 degrees to the cylinder axis, and the rocker arms had roller ends. An ignition contact-breaker was mounted on the end of the camshaft, and sparks provided by a trembler coil. By 1902, the mixer-type carburetor had been replaced by a float-less design, while a manually adjustable valve in the exhaust system vented exhaust gases via the silencer box or more or less straight to the atmosphere, the two settings presumably being intended for town and country use respectively. Cooling water was contained in a reservoir above the engine and circulated by a crankshaft-driven pump, mounted on the side of the chassis. The radiator's copper piping wound its way back and forth beneath the floor.Despite appearances to the contrary, the suspension's leaf-springs which linked the front and rear axles were not true half-elliptics like those fitted to the later model 'B' cars. On the 'R' and '6C' models, only the bottom leaf ran from front to rear, so it would be more accurate to describe these as four quarter-elliptics. Steering was by means of a tiller, a common enough method in the early 1900s, while there was a choice of brakes: one acting on the transmission, the other on the differential. The wheels were un-braked.THE MOTORCAR OFFEREDIt can be argued that this Olds was the foundation of the collection that you see before you today, it was certainly one of the first cars to be purchased and its acquisition inspired its owners to campaign the car extensively around the country and even the world. In turn, their ownership and support of other owners and their cars encouraged and developed the appreciation for these excellent runabouts, alongside their friends George Green and others. If one wanted evidence of the perennial usability of the Curved Dash Oldsmobile, one need look no further than this car which is covered in plaques for campaigning and completing events around the country and as far as the UK and Canada. They include the Glidden Tours of every year from 1951 through to 1959, display at the Hershey Fall Meet in 1954 and '55 and no doubt many occasions since, presence at the Times Square Carnival of Cars in Manhattan in 1955, use on the Long Island Old Car Club Races of 1954 and 1955, Canada National Exhibition in 1955 and more recently the Bermuda Tour in 1995 and London to Brighton in 1996 – the famed Centenary Run. All of this activity was carried out in this ownership, making it all the more remarkable, and it continued to be shown at events such as Hershey even in recent years. As will be known the current custodians were extremely knowledgeable about this model specifically and it is safe to assume that it was chosen for its reliability and authenticity, it also benefitted from years of refinement and a few George Green tweaks to make it run better the best it could, and likely better than new. Today, the car remains in extremely tidy order and although not run for a few years should respond well to some fettling and return to its active career of use. As the cataloguer can endorse having driven one on the inaugural Audrain Veteran Car Tour last year, it would be a perfect car to use on that event also in future years, or indeed to repeat any similar Horseless Carriage Club rally. Although not officially Veteran Car Club dated, its engine number sits comfortably in the sequence of other accepted entries and subject to its acceptance would then be eligible for the London to Brighton Run.In addition to its plethora of rally plaques, the 'CDO' carries high quality brass accessories, including a Meteor headlamp, side brass lamps and to assist its use a bulb horn and period Hamilton pocket watch are attached to the tiller. An exemplary Curved Dash Olds, deserving of similarly appreciative future ownership to mirror the care with which it was enjoyed by these Two Generations of collectors.
