- LHD, green with light tan interior- SU carburettors- UK registeredThe E-Type's Malcolm Sayer-penned lines are thought by many to be among the most striking ever to adorn a motor car. Indeed, only a few years ago the Daily Telegraph ranked the E-Type top in a pole of the '100 most beautiful cars of all time'. Like the XK150 before it, it was born of Jaguar's competition successes on the race tracks of Europe - this was no ordinary motor car. The E-Type, or XK-E as it was known in the USA, made its debut at the 1961 Geneva Salon where its unique combination of grace and pace stole the show. From birth, the car was available as a Fixed Head Coupe or a two-seat Roadster. Like the XK120, at launch the new Jaguar was the fastest production car of its time - its 3.8-litre straight six engine allowing a 0-60mph acceleration time of around seven seconds and a top speed of circa 150mph. Despite this, the engine size was increased from 3.8 to 4.2-litres in October 1964 and, with the change, came a sweeter all-synchromesh gearbox, better brakes and more comfortable seats. The Series 2 models introduced in 1969 are distinguished by their lack of headlamp covers, enlarged front air intake, repositioned front indicators and tail lights, wrap-around rear bumper, twin-electric fans, uprated brakes and refashioned facia and seats. This LHD roadster was originally sold new in Canada via distributor British Motor Holdings, and we understand had been the subject of a restoration some six or seven years prior to its acquisition by the vendor. Finished in green with retrimmed light tan interior and black hood, this smart-looking E-Type is running on SU carburettors and is UK registered.

Lot 2118

- Beautiful example restored in 2000s by Classic Restorations (Scotland) Ltd- Elegant Park Ward coachwork finished in grey with blue leather interior- Original owner G L Gambanis Esq. c/o Embiricos LtdAccording to its Bentley Works instruction sheet of May 30, 1947, chassis B.132.BH was originally assigned to the company's American agent, J S Inskip Inc, and the chosen specification suggests it could have been destined for the New York Motor Show of that year - a very similar example is known to have been displayed there previously. However, it seems there was a change of plan, and that name was subsequently crossed off the history card and replaced by that of G L Gambanis, c/o S G Embiricos Ltd of London. This was the UK headquarters of the Embiricos shipping line, a massive Greek family empire among whose number was the amateur racing driver Andr£ Embiricos who, with Bentley's encouragement, funded the building of the Georges Paulin-styled streamlined 4.25-Litre Bentley of 1939 that's become so famous as to be universally known as the 'Embiricos Bentley'.Gambanis, a director of S G Embiricos, evidently sought similar levels of perfection and the order for B.132.BH was revised better to suit the roads and climate of Europe than Eastern USA. The chosen coachbuilder was still Park Ward, but the revised list of special features now included: speedometer in kilometres; double filament headlamp bulbs; separate central lamp switch; a second wing-mounted wheel carrier; snow chains; locks to the bonnet and petrol filler; stainless steel stone guards; two suit cases; loose covers for the seats, doors and hood; GB plate; AA, RAC and Greek club badges; Ace wheel covers; cigar lighter. The car crossed from Dover to Boulogne on the SS Dinard on August 9, 1948 and was received by the owner 18 days later. The final invoice, including tax, was for £5,462 12s 2d.The factory records show subsequent owners as being H Gordon Bowsher of Stockbridge, Hants (March 1957); D J Ashbourne, South Benfleet, Essex (November 1958); and M I Dorman Brailsford of Crookham, Hants (June 1966). At some stage after this 'JYN 279' seems to have found its way the USA, where it ultimately spent 20 years vegetating in a Kentucky apple orchard and it was marque specialists, The Real Car Company, who repatriated it in 1994 and from whom it was purchased by A D Popple of Glasgow. It then underwent a much-needed restoration courtesy of Classic Restorations (Scotland) Ltd of Alyth, Perthshire, before being acquired by the vendor from their stand at the Rolls-Royce Enthusiasts' Club premier event of 2009. It has subsequently been maintained for the owner by Bentley specialist Harvey Wash of Colchester. This very desirable and eminently practical righthand drive Drophead Coupe is now beautifully presented with lustrous Grey coachwork, Black hood and contrasting Blue hide interior trim and carpets. The odometer currently registers an unwarranted 79,000 kilometers, and the only obvious departure from the car's original specification are the sympathetically styled flashing indicators. The Bentley is now offered complete with various items of correspondence, copies of the original chassis cards and factory records, Harvey Wash invoices, photos of the extensive restoration, original registration ('JYN 279') etc., and is no doubt capable of providing a lucky new keeper with many years of enjoyable, reliable motoring.Developed from its short-lived MKV model, Bentley's MKVI was the company's first post-war offering and the first to be offered with standard factory coachwork. However, there was still the option of purchasing a chassis to be clothed by one's coachbuilder of choice, and of the 5,202 examples made between 1946 and 1952, 1,012 featured Saloon or Drophead bodies from one of a dozen or so recognised Carrozzerias; of which Park Ward was a favourite and, of course, a subsidiary of Rolls-Royce itself.

Citroen Traction Avant 11BL 1939 - 1939 Citroen Traction Avant 11BL:- Built Paris 1939, hidden from the Germans during the war and not discovered until found in a barn in 1956. Has had 2 former keepers in the UK, the last being an avid Traction Avant enthusiast for 9 years until July this year when I bought it. A bare metal respray in the original colour scheme was performed around 5 years ago and the interior retrimmed to the original specification – photographic record available. Provided with documentation, spare parts, manuals, specialist tools etc, basically everything that an enthusiast would have or need to maintain one of these special cars. Showing 58,500 miles (unconfirmed but believed genuine) and in stunning condition with zero rust – not concours as it’s been used and enjoyed so has the odd blemish here and there. Original in all respects with the exception of a few sympathetic, modern day upgrades inc. Electronic Ignition, electric fuel pump, Kenlowe fan, alternator and 12v Halogen headlamp conversion, additional air horns, fire extinguisher etc. A refresh after recent, minimal use has included replacement wheel cylinders and battery and a rebuilt alternator. Drives faultlessy, it’s amazing how a 77 year old car can drive the way this car does. An absolutely superb car in all respects.

- 1 of just 2,215 left-hand drive US models made - Offered with both hard- and soft-top roofs - Current ownership since 2003 and MOT'd into September 2016 The Spider first broke cover at the 1961 Turin Salon, though production did not commence until 1966. The pretty two-seater, then known as the 'Duetto', is said to have been the last project with which 'Pinin' Farina was personally associated. Just one year later the model was immortalised by the Dustin Hoffman film 'The Graduate'. The chassis was based on that of the Giulia 105 and initial examples were powered by a 1570cc version of Alfa's sonorous four-cylinder twin-cam unit. In 1967, the Duetto was replaced by the 1750 (1779cc) Spider Veloce. Though the new version's looks were relatively unchanged, useful upgrades were made to the suspension, brakes, electrics, wheels and tyres. 1 of just 2,215 left-hand drive 1750 Spider Veloces supplied new to the USA, this particular example has been resident in the UK since 1990. Originally fitted with Spica fuel injection, its four-cylinder engine is now fed by twin dual-choke carburettors. As a US-spec car, 'MVU 981G' has never had headlamp covers and still sports side indicator repeaters. Entering the current ownership in 2003, the Alfa is offered for sale with hard- / soft-top roofs, V5C Registration Document and MOT certificate valid until September 2016.
