A well engineered 3 1/2 in gauge model of a 4-6-0 Class S 15 Locomotive and tender by Maunsell 'Greene King’ No 841, in Southern green livery, built by the late Mr K D Hornsby to Martin Evans designs from Reeves castings, the copper boiler with injector feed, mechanical feed pump with by-pass and auxiliary hand operated pump in tender. The chassis with outside cylinders 1 3/16th inch bore x 1 3/4 inch stroke. Walschaerts gear with piston valves, axle pump and brakes. The well engineered cab with detail including gear and lever operated firebox door, sight glass, pressure gauge, reverse wheel control, regulator, drain cocks operated by hand lever in cab and wooden planked floor. The locomotive and its eight wheel tender finished in Southern green and black livery with rivetwork, steps, handrails, lamp irons and fluted motion. Length 49 1/2 in (126cm). No boiler history is available. This quality model was built by the late Mr K D Hornsby and was featured in the Model Engineer on the 5th of November 1982. Mr Hornsby made many contributions to this model engineering magazine during the 1970’s and 1980’s relating to other models he built. Mr Hornsby worked on Lancasters and Spitfires in the second world war and was involved with the Dambusters bouncing bomb. The model is being sold on behalf of his family and comes with a folder containing 'Model Engineer’ articles, photographs and family history supplied by his granddaughter
A well engineered 7 1/4 inch gauge model of LNER No 1306 B1 'Mayflower’ 4-6-0 Locomotive and tender, built to the Martin Evans design 'Roe Deer’ and detail of Mayflower in preservation. The model with silver soldered copper boiler and stainless steel superheaters, cab with pressure gauge, regulator, sight glasses and wooden planked floor, oilers, whistle, water feed by injector, mechanical feed pump with by-pass and auxiliary hand pump in tender with extension handles, outside cylinders, Walschaert’s valve gear with reverse in cab, mechanical lubricator, drain cocks operated from cab, working leaf springs, steel tyres on centre drive wheels with fluted motion, disc brakes fitted to tender. This fine working engine has only completed forty hours of light passenger use and a video of the locomotive running will be played at the auction room on view days. The model being finished in LNER Green lined livery with fitted steps, hand rails, lamp irons and lamps. It comes complete with a purpose built enclosed transportation trailer and carrying bars. Boiler History: Boiler Serial number KB06002. Original Boiler certificate No 4407 issued by the boiler makers Kingswood Boilers of Bristol with a hydrostatic test pressure of 200psi dated the 22nd of April 2006. signed by P J Carr. Southern Federation of Model Engineering Societies Boiler Test Records Norwich DSME Hydraulic test 200psi expiry date 23rd of April 2009. Steam Test No 121525 Working pressure 80psi. A well engineered 5in gauge GWR Armstrong Class 4-4-0 locomotive and tender No7, the cab with fitted boiler sight glass, drain cocks, regulator, pressure gauge, oiler and planked floor, safety valve. Chassis detail including twin inside cylinders, fluted motion, oilers, water feed, drain cocks, hand rails, steps and lamp irons, whistle, leaf spring suspension and other detail. Tender with fitted hand feed pump, tool boxes and fitted brakes. The model is finished in green, black and tan livery with polished brightwork and brass oval plaque Great Western Railway Co. Swindon Works 1884. The locomotive stands on a display track with glazed and oak framed over case. Length 202cm. Width 38cm. Height 56cm. No boiler history available.
Edgar Brandt (1880-1960) Boa A bronze and copper floor lamp 166cm high Purchased by the vendors Mother direct from Edgar Brandts workshop in the late 1930s this may account for the unusual copper shade. This lot comes with a letter from Etablissements Edgar Brandt departement Ferronnerie dated 1947. See illustration briefly translated it mentions the delivery of the lamp and an explanation regarding the unavailablity of replacing the copper shade with an alabaster example.
