A GEORGE III TORCHERE PAINTED EN GRISAILLE LATE 18TH CENTURY Painted with neoclassical leaves, pendant husks and trompe l'oeil beaded and reeded borders 144cm high, 36cm diameter Provenance: David Vicary. Christie's, Christopher Gibbs House Sale, Clifton Hampden, Oxfordshire, 25th and 26th September 2000, lot 65, where purchased by Robert Kime. A related pair of torcheres were sold from the property of Major-General E H Goulbourn's settlement, Christie's, London, 12th March 1981, lot 75. David Vicary, Christopher Gibbs' great uncle, originally trained as an architect and worked in the offices of Sir Basil Spence and Denis Lennon. In 1960 he opened his own office in the Brompton Road, London, SW7. Condition Report: Overall there are some scratches, marks, knocks, cracks and abrasions consistent with age and use.There are some losses and observations including:The top, turned sections and base are of sectional construction.There are some chips including to the edge of the top, and knocks in particular to corners and edges.The paintwork is rubbed, scuffed and worn in places and some craquelure and flaking. There are traces of later touching up paint.There is a hole, to the underside of the top, with a corresponding filled hole to the top of the top, probably for a lamp cable at some stage.There are some cracks including sectional construction cracks and some to the base.There is some evidence of old worm.The underside has three notches, one still with part of a metal fixing, presumably to fix the torchere to the floor at some stage. TWO TIFFANY STYLE TABLE LAMPS AND CERAMICS, comprising a large Spanish studio pottery navy blue and white floor vase, incised marks to base M.G. Arroyo, height 69cm (handle has been broken and reglued), a Tiffany style table lamp with three green and yellow shades in the form of flower heads, with a foliate metal lamp base of twisted vine leaves, height 57cm, a metal Tiffany style lamp base with a blue floral leaded glass shade (finial and lamp fixings are missing), a composite garden ornament in the form of a seated pig, together with a blue and white floral 'Excelsior' Victorian wash jug and bowl (bowl has a large crack through the middle) (7) (Condition report: lamps untested, other obvious damage mentioned in description)

A Brutalist mid 20th century circa 1950s wrought & cast iron floor standing lamp light. The lamp having a four scrolled arms atop with scalloped light holders. Central column below with alternating embossed iron panels & poles united by scrolled detailing. Raised on four scrolled supports. Measures approx. 190cm x 90cm.
A retro mid 20th century circa 1970s chrome & teak floor standing lamp light in the manner of Terence Conran. The lamp having twin bulbous shaped chrome shades on teak adjustable arms. Central chrome tubular column raised on wooden circular base. Measures approx. 145cm tall x 26cm in diameter.

Both are generally in good condition. Some signs of wear consistent with age and use. The table with some minor splits in the wood. One leg of the floor lamp is slightly loose. Both with some chips.
