An exhibition quality model of a 3 1/2 inch gauge North Eastern Railway 4-4-0 Locomotive and Tender No 2021, built by Mr H P Jackson of York, the boiler bearing builders plaque ‘Jackson York’, having fittings including safety valve, clack and other valves, cab detail including pressure gauge, regulator, water sight glass, drain cocks,firebox door, screw reverse lever, whistle, sliding windows and mahogany planked floor. Chassis details include twin inside cylinders with Stephenson’s link gear, footplate controls, lubricator, crosshead driven feedpump, bypass and pipework. Six wheel tender with fitted hand feed pump, filler cap and vent, tool boxes, steps, hand and lamp irons the shaped chassis frames with period style leaf springs and lining work. The model finished in apple green and black livery with white and black lining. Length 43ins Cab Width 5 1/2ins
A fine exhibition quality 3 1/2 inch gauge Beyer Garratt ‘Samuel Jackson’ 2-8-0-0-8-2 Locomotive No 4, built by Mr A William G Tucker, the copper boiler with fittings including safety, pressure and water gauges,whistle and other valves. Cab fittings including draincock and lever operated firebox door, three fitted Bassett Lowke gauges, brake lever,regulator and hardwood planked floor with checker-plate panel. Chassis fittings including twin outside cylinders at both ends of locomotive with fine fluted motion fitted, steam driven boiler water pump and injector. The model finished in green and black livery with polished brightwork fitted with steps, handrails, lamp irons and vacuum hoses. Length 66ins Cab Width 7 1/2ins. * William Tucker was a well known locomotive builder in the 1950’s and 1960’s and is known for building a rare model of a 3 1/2 inch gauge ‘Decapod’ tank locomotive which was documented in ‘The Model Engineer’. The name plate on this locomotive commemorates Samuel Jackson who became the Works Director at Beyer Peacock Locomotive builders and was the draughtsman who prepared the first works drawings for these famous locomotives.
A fine exhibition quality model of a 5 inch gauge Class 27 Lancashire and Yorkshire Railways Goods 0-6-0 Locomotive and six wheel Tender No 11, built by Louis Raper of Failsworth to Aspinal’s design, the copper boiler having fittings including safety valve, clack and injector valves, high standard cab detail including Bassett Lowke pressure gauge, regulator, twin water sight glasses, drain cocks, pivot firebox door, reversing wheel, steam brake control, whistle and mahogany planked floor with swivel opening ‘porthole’ style windows. Chassis details include twin inside cylinders with Stephenson’s link gear, footplate controls, lubricator, pipework, leaf springs, vacuum hoses, rivet work. Six wheel tender with fitted hand operated feed pump, filler caps and vents, tool boxes, steps, hand and lamp irons. The model finished in Black livery with red lining, sign written ‘Lancashire and Yorkshire’ with cabside plate ‘L & Y Ry Co Makers-Horwich 1889’ and polished brightwork to locomotive. A fine exhibition quality model of a 7 1/4 inch gauge Great Western 61xx Class ‘Large Prairie’ side tank 2-6-2 locomotive No 6110, this model is built according to the engine No 6110 when it came out of Swindon works, from original drawings and built by Mr Harry Powell of Crewe, fitted with a copper superheated boiler and Belpaire firebox, safety valve, regulator, sight glass, pressure gauge, draincocks, lever and quadrant-operated reverse gear, hand brake, lever operated firebox doors,simulated plank floor, rivet work, tool boxes, whistle and injector valves. Chassis fittings include twin outside cylinders with Stephenson link gear and piston valves, fluted motion, lubricators, injector, steam brakes, full rivet detailing, lamp, lamp-irons, steps and handrails. Front and rear vacuum hoses. The model finished in Great Western green and black livery with polished brightwork. Length 62ins Cab Width 12 1/2ins. The 61xx Class of G W R Praire locomoitive built between 1931 and 1935. Comprising the engine No.6100 to 6169. The engine No.6110 was built at Swindon in 1931.The boiler pressure of this series was 225lbs against 200 lbs in the previous series.Later those locomotives where fitted with sliding shutters on the cab sides and No 6110 was actually the first to be equipped. Prairie Tanks were the mainstay of the GWR Branch line traffic and medium freight work being withdrawn from service by 1961. Only one of the 61xx series has survived into preservation, but several Large Prairies have survived.

Chassis details include twin inside cylinders with Stephenson’s link gear, footplate controls, lubricator, injectors, crosshead driven feedpump and bypass, pipework, leaf springs, vacuum pipes,rivet work. Six wheel tender with filler caps and vents, tool boxes, steps, hand and lamp irons. The model finished in Great Western green and black livery. Length 77 1/2ins Cab Width 9ins
A fine exhibition quality model of a 10 1/4 inch inch gauge Royal Scot 4-6-0 Locomotive and Tender No 46139 ‘The Welch Regiment’, built by Mr Louis Raper of Failsworth to the design by Sir William Stanier in 1943, the steel and copper boiler having fittings including safety valves, regulator, blower,whistle, steam brakes, injectors and blow down valves, incorporating fully external detailing and smoke deflectors, fine quality cab with twin sight glasses, drain cocks, regulator, lever operated sliding doors to firebox, reverse control, steam brake control, drivers seat and oak planked floor. Chassis with three cylinders fitted and Walschaerts valve gear, fine lubricating system, draincocks, sanding gear,steam brakes, vacuum pipes,leaf springs and quality finished wheels, fluted motion and smoke deflector plates as fitted to this later example. The tender with water scoop, hand feed pump, brakes to all wheels and fitted steps, handrails and lamp irons. The model finished in British Railways ‘Brunswick Green’ Livery with lining and polished brightwork. Length 146ins Cab Width 19 1/4ins. The original Scot Class was designed and built by Sir Henry Fowler and rebuilt by Sir William Stanier FRS of which this is an example.Often refered to as the ‘Rebuilt Scot’ being derived from the LMS Royal Scot class introduced in 1927 with parallel boiler and single chimneys. The original locomotives of this design were finally withdrawn from service in December 1962. * Sir William Stanier FRS.
