Frammento in alabastro rappresentante la Sepoltura di Cristo, scuola di Nottingham, XV secolo, Il frammento faceva parte con ogni probabilità da un grande altare con le scene della passione di Cristo, di cui esso costituiva una delle cinque o sette formelle laterali. Uno degli esempi simili e meglio conservati è la Pala di Nailloux, di cui il nostro esemplare riproduce anche la saccoccia penzolante dalla cintura del Giuseppe d’Arimatea, il personaggio che regge i piedi del Cristo. Cm 31x17. Per un frammento del tutto simile nelle collezioni della Pinacoteca di Brera cfr. il catalogo di mostra: Maestri della scultura in legno nel Ducato degli Sforza, Milano 2005, pp. 90-91.

Mortaio Tipo del primo rinascimento, Forma conica. Forma conica. Un ovolo con un tallone superiore forma il bordo. Un cavetto basso conduce al corpo. Base rientrante liscia con un'abbozzata base in stile attico al di sotto. La parte inferiore del corpo ha un profilo simile. Sul corpo sono presenti varie bande strette con decoro a rinceau distanziate le une dalle altre disposte intorno ad una staffa centrale. Nella parte centrale in un ampio spazio si situa uno stemma: un bue che cammina ed osserva. Spazi più stretti circondano le maniglie: molto sporgenti con finali a ricciolo; su di esse due basamenti sui quali poggiano un leone ed una leonessa a tuttotondo. Il pezzo è praticamente identico a uno conservato al Metropolitan Museum di New York. Questo è alto 10 cm e mostra su entrambi i lati due putti in stile quattrocentesco che sorreggono uno stemma e sotto di esso una ghirlanda. Lo stile e l'araldica di entrambi i pezzi sono enigmatici. Il toro nello stemma fa pensare ai Borgia. Altezza cm 10,5, diametro cm 14

Mortaio Tipo rinascimentale, Basso, forma conica svasata. Bordo sporgente inclinato con un anello vicino all’orlo. Bordo e corpo collegati da un cavetto. Un astragalo inferiore corrisponde a due tori nella parte inferiore del corpo che sono separati dal massiccio basamento da una scotia superficiale. La base è ambigua, non distintamente articolata. Due teste di cavallo come manici. Il restante fregio piuttosto basso è decorato da un lato da un medaglione con la testa di un imperatore (?) in una corona e, a entrambi i lati di esso, profili classici immaginari, senza cornice; sull’altro lato sono ripetute le stesse teste senza cornice. Patina grigio verdino Dalla stessa bottega potrebbe provenire un esemplare del Museo… dell’Arte Sanitaria in Roma (L.B. pl. XX) Altezza cm 7,5, diametro cm 12, pestello cm 17

Mortaio Francese, 17° secolo, Forma conica dritta. Bordo sporgente convergente con orlo accentuato. Su di esso elementi semisferici egualmente distanziati. Base sporgente formata da un piedistallo obliquo e una scotia. Sul corpo tre mezze figure di Vittorie con braccia incrociate e festoni al di sotto. Tra di loro: 1) ritratto di profilo a tre quarti di Enrico IV preso da una medaglia di G. Dupré (F. Mazerolle, Les Médailleurs Francais,Paris 1902-1904, no 660; G.F. Hill and G. Pollard, Renaissance Medals from the S.H. Kress Collection, London 1967, no 558). 1) medaglia di Luigi XIII (1635? Si veda W.R. von Wurzbach-Tannenberg, Katalog ... von Medaillen..., Vienna 1943, I, no 5347). 2) medaglia del 1663 di François de Bassompierre (1579-1646), non attribuita (Mazerolle, no 243). Negli interstizi, gigli di varie taglie, i due più grandi sui due lati di Enrico IV. Patina: Marrone scuro verde oliva. Altezza cm 11,5, diametro cm 17 circa, pestello cm 20. I ritratti e i gigli suggeriscono una provenienza francese, le date sulle medaglie suggeriscono una datazione successiva al 1635. I mortai francesi di questo tipo non sono rari.
