A George VI Royal Navy officer's cocked hat, epaulettes, sword belt and uniform shoulder straps, in Japanned tinplate case inscribed Eng. Comdr. S O Frew, R. N.". [Engineer Rear Admiral S O Frew was the first officer in the Royal Navy to rise to such a rank from that of Engine Room Artificer.]
A fine pair of Victorian epaulettes with a flaming grenade against a black felt ground, within gilt crescent, with bullion worked straps with red piping and a single small Royal Engineers button with VR monogram to the center. Each numbered 6898 and 'Left' and 'Right' in tin travelling box. 20.5 x 13cm. And another pair of eppaluettes, woven design with a decorated Crown for the rank of Major. According to the family these were the property of Colonel Henry William Vavasour (1783-1851). Whilst with the Royal Engineers he was posted to Gibraltar where he was present at the siege of Cadiz and defence of Tarifa. Copied bibliographic notes included with the lot. *CR Light moth damage to the felt. Otherwise good condition. Tin container with distressed surface. Second pair with some rubbing to surfaces from use.

Approximately 45cm across the shoulders, the back 54cm top to bottom. *CR Collar detaching in places, repairs internally, but generally good.

He joined the Royal Navy in 1914 (Midshipman) and advanced Lieutenant in 1919 and Lieutenant Commander in 1927, he retired from service in 1935 (Commander).Brock served in various ships throughout his naval career including HMS Vulnerable (1914-16), L.11 Submarine (1926-27), British Naval Mission to Greece (HMS President) (1931-33) for which he received his Greek awards on 6 May 1929.He was serving in HMS Excellent II (accounting base Bournemouth) when he was reported missing and presumed killed in an air crash in a Sunderland aircraft (W6016/X) probably lost over the Bay of Biscay.

Three: Captain R. W. Wood, Manchester Regiment, later Royal Army Ordnance Corps Defence and War Medals 1939-45; Efficiency Medal, G.VI.R., 2nd issue, Territorial, with one Additional Award Bar (Lt. R. W. Wood. Manch. R.), mounted court-style for display, nearly extremely fine (3) £100-£140 --- Rowland Weyland Wood was born in Hampstead, London, on 16 January 1913. He attended Harrow County School for Boys, and on 1 May 1933 he attested for service in the Territorial Army and was posted to the machine gun company of 16th London Regiment, King’s Royal Rifle Corps. He was promoted Corporal in in 1937 and Sergeant in 1939. He attended 164th Officer Cadet Training Unit and was commissioned Second Lieutenant on 28 December 1940 and was posted to the Manchester Regiment, and shortly thereafter to 7th Loyal (North Lancashire) Regiment but serving at 9 Corps Vehicle Maintenance Unit as an instructor. He was promoted Lieutenant in June 1942, unpaid Captain in November 1942, and Temporary Captain in June 1943. He was transferred to the R.A.O.C. Depot at Chilwell with the rank of Substantive Lieutenant on 13 November 1944 for service with 19th Armoured Fighting Vehicle Depot until the conclusion of the Second World War. He was transferred to Class ‘A’ Army Reserve in December 1945. He returned to serve in the Army Reserve, R.A.O.C. until relinquishing his commission on 1 March 1955, retaining the rank of Captain. He died on 16 March 1963. He was awarded the Efficiency Medal (Territorial) in the London Gazette 6 March 1947 (Manchester Regiment); and the clasp in the same London Gazette (Royal Army Ordnance Corps). A cartoon image of the officers of ‘A Vehicle School’ was published in The Tatler and Bystander on 23 December 1942 which includes a caricature likeness of the recipient. Sold with the original Army Council issue slip for the two campaign medals; small original portrait photographic image of the recipient in uniform; two epaulettes bearing cloth Captain’s rank insignia, medal riband bar and eight loose cloth rank pips; together with extensive copied research.
A scarce WW2 era Soviet Russian summer weight tanker jacket, with 2 enamel badges applied to the right breast. Olive drab green cotton, with 2 breast pockets and 5 buttons to the front. A further 2 buttons are each cuff (each button with a star, hammer and sickle motifs. Wool epaulette to each shoulder, with evidence of a badge having been mounted there. The badges pinned to the right breast include the very rare pre war era RKKA badge, and a WW2 era Tanker badge for excellence in combat.Both badges are screw back (one with replacement later fitting). Notes: information supplied by the vendor states that the jacket was purchased from Major Yuri Kumikov of The Amour Museum, Saritov, Russia. It’s believed to date from circa 1940/41. No apparent issue or maker marks to the jacket. Condition: Small hole to the fabric under one of the epaulettes (one epaulette is also partly detached. Some very minor spot soiling in places, but nothing that is detrimental. Both badges are in good condition, but one has a replacement screw back.

Kavalleriedegen M 89 mit vernickelter Rückenklinge, gestempelt "W.K & C", beidseitig das Treuebandeau, Neusilber-Korbgefäß mit Wappenlöwen, Kautschukhilze, vernickelte Stahlscheide (etwas fleckig) mit zwei starren Trageringen, Länge 96 cm. Weißledernes Hüftkoppel mit einem Trageriemen, Messingschloss (Gegenschließe fehlt). Außerdem ein Schulterkoppel mit einem Trageriemen. Lederriemen teils nachgeweißt, partiell leicht beschädigt, Trage- und Altersspuren. Umfangreiches Uniformensemble. Äußerst selten. Furthermore, the steel-green cloth trousers with crimson-red piping as an excellent reproduction. Leather bandolier with cartridge box.Cavalry sword M 89 with nickel-plated single-edged blade, stamped "W.K & C", both sides with banner of loyalty, basket hilt of nickel silver with heraldic lion, rubber hilt, nickel-plated steel scabbard (somewhat stained) with two fixed suspension rings, length 96 cm. Hip belt of white leather with one carrying strap, brass buckle (counterpart missing). Also, a shoulder belt with one carrying strap. Leather straps party re-whitened, slightly damaged in places, traces of wear and age. Comprehensive uniform ensemble. Extremely rare.Condition: II

dating: about 1870 provenance: Papal States, Bicorn made of solid felt (small damaged parts), bordered with black silk featuring stripe with Papal tiara and grenade fixing a gold and silver cockade, amaranth red plume with its metal case, silver-thread ornaments on the flaps of the bicorn, black leather sweat-band and black silk cap; blue cloth tailcoat, outlines at the collar, cuffs and at the amaranth cloth tails, grenades with silver embroideries at the tails, large buttons with the Papal symbol and the inscription 'Gendarmeria Pontificia' (one detached but still present); bandoleer with cartridge box featuring the Corps ornament (of a later period); bandoleer with clutched for the sword and bronze plaque of the Papal Gendarmerie; epaulettes and original wire bindings of a later period; set with a pair of nickel-silver spurs, a pair of gloves and a pair of gauntlets. Sabre with straight, single-and-false-edged blade, the tang with Pontifical marks; brass hilt with four loop-guards, the main one marked '186', the butt-plate marked '241', short cap; leather-covered wooden grip (small missing parts) with brass wire binding; complete with iron scabbard with two lugs, the upper band with remains of marking. dimensions various cm.
dating: about 1860 provenance: Sardinian Kingdom, Bicorn provided with all uniform parts, with leather sweat-band inside featuring the owner's name (not clearly legible, probably 'Count Donato Fra...'); fine, dark green, cloth double-breasted tail coat with white cloth collar and cuffs, all finely embroidered with gilded threads with the order's badge at the tails, complete with large gilded epaulettes featuring large fringes; complete with trousers. dimensions various cm.
dating: Third quarter of the 20th Century provenance: State of the Vatican City, Composed of kepi with service pompom and feather. Jacket with honour cords. Metal epaulettes with fringes. Light blue trousers with band. Belt complete with cartridge box, belt frog with scabbard (numbered 11223), containing bayonet (numbered 77). All in good condition, with minimal signs of use and time. Interesting and uncommon. height jacket circa 85 cm.
