Portrait Painting of a Colour Sergeant of the Coldstream Guards Crimean War Period, fine oil on canvas portrait of the colour sergeant in full dress uniform, with scarlet coatee tunic with white baldric having cross belt plate in the form of the Guards star and garter, winged epaulettes to the shoulders and early type colour sergeants arm rank badges. He is shown resting his arm on books and in the background his early pattern shako with starburst shako badge. Painting is housed in a gilt plaster frame. No signature can be seen on the painting. From the reverse it would indicate that the painting has been restored and professionally cleaned at some stage. Some areas of wear and flaking to the top corners. Canvas measures 63 ½ x 76cms, frame 74 x 87 ½ cms.

Various photographs of Naval interest including photos of landing crafts (some copy photos noted). Handwritten letters. Correspondence, dated 25th April 1945, from the Red Cross to Mrs Shapcott relating to her son Serjeant J.T Shapcott, 1272432, RAF who had been reported missing. A photograph of the remains of a crashed aircraft on a beach. A ticket for the Relatives Enclosure at the unveiling of the Runnymede Air Force Memorial. A Victory Celebrations booklet. 18 year old John Tudor Shapcott was killed in action on 26th June 1942 whilst piloting a Wellington 1C bomber (R1410 KX-M) as part of a 1000 bomber raid on Bremen. The plane is believed to have been shot down by a night fighter and crashed into the North Sea off the coast of Holland.

A GEORGIAN OFFICER~S COATEE OF THE ROYAL ARTILLERYA fine double-breasted blue coatee of the 1828 Pattern, with scarlet collar, cuffs, piping, skirt lining and turnbacks, the collar, cuff-slashes and skirt-slashes all bearing massive gold oakleaf and acorn embroidery. The skirt-ornaments of a crown above three guns in a bayleaf wreath in gold embroidery. Epaulettes present, with gilt metal crescents and scarlet leather lining, but without badges to the gold lace straps. Minimal moth damage, stitching faults to collar and minor defects to the gold embroidery. Together with sword-slings attached to a white buff baldric fitted with an oblong plate in frosted gilt, mounted with St George~s Cross within a crowned Garter above a massive Thunderbolt; ; Two embroidered coatees were worn by officers of the Royal Artillery: the first from 1828-1831, the second from 1838-1855. The absence of a grenade on the collar of this item, and the style of its skirt-ornaments, strongly suggest that it is of the earlier pattern.

Gilt metal crescents edged with wire, and gold-laced straps bearing a portcullis and coronet in crimson velvet and silver embroidery, below colonel's badges of rank, lined with red leather and fitted with Buckmaster 1845-pattern patent fastenings. Bullion remains fresh.

Comprising: fine black beaver skin cocked hat, to the left side a black silk rosette with a single twist loop mounted with a gilt post 1901 gilt button to the centre. The interior is with leather sweatband and silk pleated lining. Tailor,s label for Gieves London ... Full dress bullion epaulettes with silver bullion fouled anchor (no tassels. worn by junior Officers). Housed in the original black tin transit/storage box. The lid with painted name of T.G.V. Percey RN. Near unused condition, bullion bright. Lid hinges broken. Captain Terence "Pablo" Gerard Vaughan Percy OBE DSC was appointed a Midshipman in 1937 and Acting Sub Lieutenant 1940 Qualifying as a Pilot he commanded 848 Naval Air Squadron on the carrier HMS Formidable and in 1945 operating against the Japanese was awarded the DSC. Remaining with the Royal Navy in the post war years he was appointed Captain and awarded the OBE.

He was present at Alma, Inkermann, Sebastopol and the capture of Balaclava.After his return from the Crimea, he became High Sherriff in 1886, a Deputy Lieutenant of the county and a Justice of the Peace. He was also Colonel of the 2nd Volunteer Battalion of the Lincolnshire Regiment, was appointed Ensign of the Body Guard of Yeoman of the Guard and was knighted in 1907.

dating: 1913 provenance: State of the Vatican City, Red-cloth jacket with signs of use and age, and some moth holes. Blue cloth collar and cuffs with gilded-and silver-thread decorations. Golden buttons with the Papal emblem and the writing 'NOBLE GUARD'. With the label of the Beretta tailor's shop inside, with remains of handwritten inscriptions (not clearly legible, dated '1913'). White cloth trousers with signs of aging and some stains and small holes. Complete with golden metal epaulettes with three stars, with fringes; belt embroidered in golden thread, with blue bands and pocket for the sword's scabbard; bandoleer worked en suite and provided with gilt-metal Papal emblems, one with the 'GNP' monogram of the Noble Guard in silver, the other with decussed keys and the Papal tiara. Also provided with black leather boots (signs of use and age) and white leather gloves. Rare. For an important member with three seniority ranks. height jacket circa 73 cm.
