An extremely rare early Victorian other ranks uniform of the 10th (North Lincoln) Regiment, comprising scarlet coatee with yellow facings, white frogging, epaulettes, two inverted chevrons on right sleeve and pewter buttons by Nutting, London, the inside breast marked "D. Smalley XF 412 1845" (minor moth, particularly inside the tails, one cuff button missing), pair of white linen trousers marked "D. Smalley Xth Ft. 412 26 July 1846", white linen jacket, unmarked, and white linen haversack also marked "D Smalley 10th Ft. 412 26 July 1846", (faint) containing a housewife (no contents) marked "D SMALEY X.B. No 77", GC, parts near VGC for age. Included with this lot is a copy of the Record of Service of Dennis Smalley who joined the Regiment in 1825, Discharge Certificate dated September 1846 showing that he served for 20 years 352 days of which 15 years were spent abroad in Portugal, the Ionian Islands and India, Clothing Allowance, Medical Certificate etc. The fact that he was discharged in September 1846 and the items are dated July 1846 would account for their good condition and survival. A staff Sergeant jacket, blue with Royal crowned buttons, chest 45cm, 75cm in length with the broad arrow stamped, with a Royal Army Physical Training Corp (APTC) uniform, 52cm chest, 84cm length with APTC buttons with a matching shirt and trousers, 43cm waist, 110cm length, together with three APTC epaulettes and a Ross London broad arrow stamped pair of binoculars, serial number 10838.

In early 1823, Duke Louis Antoine d'Angoulême led a French expeditionary force to restore Ferdinand VII to the Spanish throne. Charles Albert, eager to redeem himself after the uprisings of 1821, asked to join the contingent. After receiving permission from Charles Felix on 26 April, he embarked on the Sardinian frigate Commercio on 2 May and arrived in Marseilles on 7 May. Assigned to General Étienne de Bordesoulle's division, he arrived in Madrid on 24 May and continued on to Cádiz. He distinguished himself during the crossing of the Sierra Morena and was awarded the Legion of Honour. On 31 August 1823, French troops attacked and captured the Trocadero fortress. Charles Albert bravely crossed the Channel and raised the flag of the 6th Regiment of the Royal Guard. After the battle, he rescued the enemy prisoners and received the epaulettes of a fallen officer. When he was freed, Ferdinand VII praised him personally. On 2 September, during a military parade, the Duke of Angoulême decorated Charles Albert with the Cross of the Order of Saint Louis. diameter 4 cm.

dating: early 20th Century provenance: Kingdom of Italy, A 'Moretto' hat with black felt skull featuring a wide brim waxed at the top; metal front frieze with number ‘1’ on a fabric cockade; black leather sweat-band and leather belt loops inside; complete with featherr. Black fabric jacket, well preserved (damage to the left sleeve in the chevron area). Complete with sewn epaulettes with coloured piping and bullion at the borders, with number ‘6’ at the center. Lapel with crimson washed out flashes with a metal star (the back marked ‘BERETTA’). Provided with all buttons featuring a trumpet frieze, the reverse of each button is marked ‘UNIONE MILITARE A. M & C.ie’. With chevron at the wrists. The inside is partially lined in black fabric. Complete with the typical 'Bersaglieri' green wool ribbon rope. length cm.

Admiral Lord Nelson Ceramic Character Jug This impressive ceramic character jug captures the likeness of Admiral Lord Nelson, a celebrated British naval figure.
