MICHAEL JACKSON - The Omer Bhatti Collection: Michael Jackson's Black Corduroy Shirt - A custom-made black corduroy shirt previously owned and worn by Michael Jackson. Jackson was pictured wearing his black corduroy shirt over several years, including during the Bad Tour rehearsals at the Pensacola Civic Centre, Florida, in early 1988. He also wore it in May 1998 when he visited Namibia, where he met with President Sam Nujoma and spoke at The Southern African Economic Forum. This lot comes from the personal collection of Norwegian rapper and dancer Omer Bhatti. It was personally gifted to Bhatti by Jackson at his Neverland Ranch, and the shirt came from Jackson's memorabilia room. Bhatti can be seen wearing the shirt with Jackson in photographs taken at Jackson's child's second birthday party. A recognisable piece of the King of Pop's custom wardrobe, this black corduroy shirt has red-and-gold satin embellishments on the collar tips and matching coloured epaulettes. A pocket adorns the right side of the chest, and seven metal buttons decorated with a coat of arms are affixed down the front. There are no size or maker labels, and the garment displays minor loose threads. However, it remains in excellent overall condition considering its age. The lot is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Bhatti.Additional provenance:This lot comes from the personal collection of Norwegian rapper and dancer Omer Bhatti, who established himself through touring and numerous television appearances. In 1996, Bhatti met his idol Michael Jackson in Tunisia. After being impressed by Bhatti's dance moves, Jackson became his mentor, spending time with him while travelling and at Neverland. This led to a lasting connection between the Bhatti and Jackson families, which remained strong until Jackson's death in 2009.Estimate: £8,000 - 16,000 Ω Bidding for this lot will end on Friday, November 15th. The auction will begin at 3:00 PM GMT and lots are sold sequentially via live auctioneer; tune in to the live streaming broadcast on auction day to follow the pace. Note other lots in the auction may close on Thursday, November 14th, Saturday, November 16th or Sunday, November 17th.
A superb and scarce, WW1 Lieutenant’s tunic, matched trousers, Cap, Sam Brown belt, boots, and other associated equipment, as worn by Lieutenant, later Acting Major, and finally Major William Munro Jennings (1885-1970) of the Royal Engineers. Both the tunic and matched trousers have tailors labels for Abbott & Baldwin of 19 Wicklow Street, Dublin. Both pieces are also dated 2/2/15 and named to 1st Lieut W.M.Jennings. The full set includes: A khaki wool tunic, with embroidered rank stars to each cuff (which after mid 1916 it became increasingly more common to have rank epaulettes). The tunic is complete with its original brass Royal Engineer buttons to the front, pockets, and epaulette area, and a matched pair of officer’s bronze R.E collar badges. The matched khaki wool trousers are complete with horn buttons to the fly, and to the waistband area for the attachment of braces. The tailors label is stitched in at the seam on the back panel. Another pair of trouser is also included, with these being a lightweight cotton material, with French made metal buttons. The lightweight trousers are seemingly devoid of any official stamped marks, with the only visible details being a faint handwritten number ‘1333’. The cap is of lightweight khaki fabric, with thin brown leather chinstrap, attached to the sides by means of 2 small General Service buttons. Tailor’s name of John Morgan & Sons, Cowes stamped into the leather sweatband. The Royal Engineers cap badge currently (loosely) fitted is incorrect for this type of cap, or rank. The example currently used on the hat is a brass other ranks economy pattern, whereas it should be an officer’s bronze example, and there are 2 small holes to the front where one has been previously fitted - a replacement original bronze cap badge should not be difficult to obtain to properly complete the cap. The leather Sam Browne belt is complete with its cross strap, pouch, Webley revolver holster, and even the cord lanyard for the Webley. The riding boots are of dark brown leather, with 3 strap and buckle attachments to the front, and 14 eyelets to each for threading laces through. A WW1 or possibly earlier pattern private purchase water bottle is also included, with the piece having a rounded front, and flat back, and and bayonet fitting cap (lid now absent). Partial leather carry strap is still fitted to the outside of the bottle. Notes: William Munro Jennings was born in 1885 in South Shields, Durham, the son of another William Munro Jennings (1859-1915), a General Practitioner. William attestation date is unknown, but his medal index card states that he disembarked for service in the Gallipoli peninsular on May 21st 1915, which would fit in well with the dates on his uniform. He is entitled to the 1915 Star trio, with his rank rising from Lieutenant up to Major by the end of the conflict. He married Olive May Young in 1915 (with the marriage certificate noting his profession as ‘Lieutenant Royal Engineers’), and went on to have a son, another William Munro Jennings in 1916. He would appear to have been discharged on May 18th 2021, with the medals being sent to his home address on Grange Road, Brook Lane, Chester. At the time of his son’s marriage in 1950, William was noted as being a Civil Engineer. Condition: generally very good. The tunic has survived well, with only a small moth hole to the bottom of one of the pockets. Complete with all its buttons and collar badges. Some very minor age and service related soiling to the tunic, and what appears to be some water staining to the lightweight pair of trousers. Minor wear to the cap, which is also a little out of round. There are splits to the reverse of the boots along the stitched seam, and they would appear to have been heavily waxed in the past, giving them a slightly tacky feel to the surface of the leather.

In the 1759 publication of the 'Illustrated Precedents for the Ritual Paraphernalia of the Imperial Court' Huangchao Liqi Tushi (皇朝禮器圖式), three types of official's armour were categorised according to the ranks of officials. This particular lot corresponds to type one, intended for high-ranking officials. The present lot includes a flag with the characters reading: 信都會友鏢局 (Xindu Huiyou Biaoju), which can be translated as the 'Huiyou Armed Escort Agency of Xindu.' The term 镖局 (biao ju) refers to a type of security escort service that originated in Imperial China, particularly during the Ming and Qing dynasties. These escort agencies were responsible for the safe transport of valuable goods, money, and sometimes people, across dangerous or bandit-prone regions. Known for employing highly trained martial artists, often skilled in traditional Chinese martial arts, they ensured protection against theft and assault. Pair of Officers Full Dress Epaulettes of the Bengal Engineers, Attributed to Major General William Spottiswoode Trevor VC, Awarded the Victoria Cross during the Bhutan War in 1865, fine pair of officers epaulettes with large bullion embroidered flaming grenades to the centre and gilt buttons for Bengal Engineers. Both with the bullion embroidered tassels to the ends. Leather and satin cloth underlay. Housed in metal storage tin. They remain in excellent overall condition. Stated to have belonged to Major General Trevor VC by the late vendors notes, said to have purchased from direct family descent. Born on 9th October 1831, Trevor’s father was the son of Robert Trevor & Mary Spottiswoode. His father was a Captain in the Indian army, stationed in Afghanistan, his father was murdered in Kabul, both himself, siblings and mother were held hostage by rebels in Kabul, after the retreat in 1842, until being rescued by the British army after the reoccupation by General Pollock’s relief force. Trevor was commissioned into the Bengal Engineers in 1849. He served in the Anglo-Burmese war and later during the Indian Mutiny. He was wounded on multiple occasions during the Anglo-Burmese war and was mentioned in despatches for gallant conduct. In February 1865 Trevor joined the Bhutan field force as field engineer. He was a 33 years old major in the Bengal Engineers, Bengal Army during the Bhutan War when the following deed took place on 30 April 1865 at Dewan-Giri, Bhutan for which he was awarded the Victoria Cross in a joint citation with Lieutenant James Dundas, ‘For their gallant conduct at the attack on the Block-house at Dewan-Giri, in Bhootan, on the 30th of April, 1865. Major-General Tombs, C.B., V.C., the Officer in command at the time, reports that a party of the enemy, from 180 to 200 in number, had barricaded themselves in the Block-house in question, which they continued to defend after the rest of the position had been carried, and the main body was in retreat. The Block-house, which was loop-holed, was the key of the enemy's position. Seeing no Officer of the storming party near him, and being anxious that the place should be taken immediately, as any protracted resistance might have caused the main body of the Bhooteas to rally, the British force having been fighting in a broiling sun on very steep and difficult ground for upwards of three hours, the General in command ordered these two Officers to show the way into the Block-house. They had to climb up a wall which was 14 feet high, and then to enter a house, occupied by some 200 desperate men, head foremost through an opening not more than two feet wide between the top of the wall and the roof of the Block-house. Major-General Tombs states that on speaking to the Sikh soldiers around him, and telling them in Hindoostani to swarm up the wall, none of them responded to the call, until these two Officers had shown them the way, when they followed with the greatest alacrity. Both of them were wounded’.After recovering from his wounds, Trevor became superintending engineer at the Bengal Presidency, and was made brevet major in May 1866. Promoted lieutenant-colonel in August 1874, he held a number of engineering roles in India, and in December 1875 was appointed chief engineer of British Burma, a post he held for five years. He was promoted brevet colonel on 19 August 1879, and in 1880 became director-general of Railways. He then served as secretary to the government of India in the Public Works Department from February 1882 until his retirement from the army in February 1887, with the honorary rank of major-general. Trevor died on 2 November 1907 aged 76 at his home in Westminster, London. His Victoria Cross is displayed at the Royal Engineers Museum, Gillingham, Kent.
