A 19th century mahogany and brass mounted Campaign officer's shaving case, the hinged lid with a shield shape plaque engraved with a monogram, the interior with pull-out mirror to the lid revealing a hone and a comb, above a lift-out tray fitted with scissors, razors, a penknife, a tongue scraper and other utensils, the base with boot-pulls, a bow corkscrew, brushes and two silver topped jars and a glass scent bottle, 6.7cm high, 11.4cm wide, 26.5cm deep. Spill'. the lid inset a mirror and a letter pouch above a leather lined interior with a lift-out tray fitted with silver topped glass bottles and jars, with a bone brush and razor, above further brushes and a bow corkscrew, 13.5cm high, 23.2cm wide, 18cm deep. Provenance: The Dr Lawrie Webster Collection of Boxes.
Three various opaque twist wine glasses: two with ogee shaped bowls with basal fluting set on straight stems with a central pair of spiral tapes surrounded by a pair of four ply tapes and a central corkscrew gauze surrounded by two single ply tapes, both on conical feet, [one foot polished], together with an example with cup shaped bowl with basal flutes set on a knopped stem containing a single series opaque twist on a conical foot, all circa 1770, 15, 15 and 14.5 cm high.
An 18th Century Jacobite firing glass circa 1760, ogee form bowl engraved with a rose and bud with bird opposing above a double series opaque twist stem with two outer tapes around a central corkscrew, raised to a solid firing foot, height 10.5cm, together with a similar example with ovoid bowl engraved with rose, bud and oak leaf above a double series opaque twist stem, tallest 12.5cm. An early 20th Century sportsman's pocket knife with cartridge extractor, scissors, screwdriver, bottle opener, corkscrew and hoof pick, the main blade broken, stamped Sheffield England, closed length 9cm, together with a silver twin bladed penknife length 7.5cm and a silver and mother of pearl fruit knife. Rare and interesting 19th century Old London Bridge corkscrew of four pillar construction, inscribed to the pillars - 'made from the iron shoe that was taken from a pillar that was 656 years in the foundation of old London Bridge' by I Ovenston, 72 Gt. Titchfield Street, London with brass plaque to the turned wooden handle, similarly inscribed, numbered to the collar 1176, 16cm high. N.B. A similar corkscrew by the same maker set a world record price for any corkscrew at auction in these rooms on 26th November 2014
