KREUTZER CONRADIN: (1780-1849) German Composer and Conductor. A prolific Composer best remembered for his opera Das Nachtlager in Granada (1834). Rare A.L.S., `Conradin Kreutzer kk Capellmeister´, one page, 4to, Vienna, 10th November 1825, to Mr. Peters, in German. An interesting letter with musical content. Kreutzer seems to be in a desperate financial situation and tries to sell some of his works to his correspondent, stating in part `Although you did not respond to most of the letters I have sent you over the last three years, and although I did not pay to you the small debt of 54 guilders yet, I wish to do business with you again and ask you if there is nothing you really like among my new musical compositions. I want to make the prices as cheap as possible.´, further listing his new works `I have the following works ready - a big piano concert in E dur - for a fee of 100 guilder, a Grande Duo Concertante for piano and harp or two pianos for 80 guilders; Rondo brillante for 4 hands for 60 guilders; 6 exquisite romances and songs - of Goethe, Uhland…each single for 20 guilders - all together 90 guilders. Mazurka for pianoforte and clarinet for 50 guilders; Fantasy Melancholic for pianoforte and cello for 50 guilders.´ Kreutzer further again insists and explains that he is ready to make any kind of work custom made, stating `Or, if you wish another genre of compositions you just have to tell me, although I think that some of the listed ones could work for you - Have you made such bad venture with my earlier works that you don't want to ask for something new from me? Schott in Mainz makes good ventures with my works - also after my opera Libussa my name became more famous..´ With address leaf to the verso. Overall age wear and toning. Small area of paper loss to the right edge, with lose small piece present and repairable, not affecting the signature and only affecting few words of the lengthy letter. About G
