(53 cm), with RD stop/start. - Another example of this model was reputedly given by Tsar Nicholas II to Princesses Olga and Elizabeth of Greece in around 1900. Rare Musical Automaton of a Lady with Parasol by Renou, c. 1890 With unmarked Jumeau-type bisque head, closed mouth, fixed blue paperweight eyes, pierced ears, original curly brown hair wig, bisque hands, holding a red silk parasol, on blue velvet-covered base with three-cam going-barrel movement playing one air, in well-preserved primrose satin costume decorated with silk-covered balls, glass beads and fragile crepe inserts, height 15 1/2 in. (40 cm.), 19 in. (49 cm.) with parasol raised, with Renou key and stop/start. The lady looks from side to side, lifts the parasol with her left hand and appears to put it up with her right, then lowers her right arm. After a few moments, the action is reversed, she raises her right arm, collapses the parasol, then lowers both arms together. - An ingenious automaton by Renou featuring a beautiful French bisque bébé, original costume and trimmings. "Bébé Russe" Musical Tea-Server Automaton by Leopold Lambert, c. 1900 With Simon & Halbig bisque head impressed "1159, Germany, S&H, Dep", open mouth, articulated blue glass eyes with mohair lashes, blonde mohair wig, bisque hands holding teapot and a tray with painted tea service, on velvet-covered base with open-spring mechanism playing a single air ("Marche Lorraine") as the figure turns and gently nods her head, blinks, lifts and twists the teapot as though pouring, and then proffers the tray with her other hand, in the original emerald-green and ivory satin costume trimmed with metallic rick-rack braid, height 19 1/2 in. (49 cm), (costume good, albeit with some wear to the sleeves, missing teapot handle), with iron LB key and tune-sheet. - A classic automaton in fresh original working condition! Musical Smoking Marquis Automaton by Roullet & Decamps, c. 1895 With bisque head stamped in red "Déposé Tête Jumeau, B.T.E. S.G.D.G. 3" and artist`s marks "IIY", open mouth, fixed brown paperweight eyes, pierced ears, cork pate and long brown hair wig, standing on velvet-covered base with cigarette-holder in one metal hand and dummy telescopic cane in the other, the going-barrel movement playing one air ("La Traviata") and causing the marquis to turn his head and bring a cigarette to his lips as the smoke is cycled through a rubber tube in the arm and exhaled through the mouth (smoking action not working), in fine original cream satin costume and tricorn hat trimmed with lace and embroidered flower appliqués, height 21 in. (55 cm.) with hat, with Decamps stop/start (mechanism in working order but smoking action requires attention). A classic French automaton in beautifully preserved condition. Der Marquis führt die angezündete Zigarette an den Mund, bewegt den Kopf zur Seite und bläst den Rauch aus. Der Rauch gelangt durch einen Schlauch im Arm zum Mund. Blasebalg muß überholt werden. "Bébé Polichinelle" Musical Automaton by Lambert, c. 1895 With Jumeau bisque character head impressed "211" and stamped in red "Déposé Tête Jumeau 4", modelled as a crying child with narrowed brown glass eyes, open/closed mouth with moulded teeth and tongue, pierced ears and blonde mohair wig, holding a handkerchief and the string to a papier-mâché polichinelle marionette in original paper-trimmed satin costume, on figured-velvet covered base with going-barrel movement playing one air ("La Grosse Cais...") and causing the bébé to turn and incline her head, raise the marionette`s string and then lift the handkerchief to her face as though dabbing away tears, appropriately redressed in candy-striped pink silk brocade costume trimmed with antique ribbons and lace, height 19 in. (48.5 cm), (wig has not been removed, replacement bisque hands, marionette`s toes chipped), with brass LB key, stop/start and tune-sheet marked "Modèle Déposé". - One of a series of rare bisque character heads produced by Emile Jumeau. Moulds 211 (the crying child) and 203 (the laughing child) were destined for use on Lambert automata, although the same expressions are also occasionally found on Jumeau dolls in their own right. In gestreiftem Brokatseide-Kostüm (erneuert), mit alter Spitze und Bändern dekoriert. In der linken Hand ein Taschentuch und in der rechten Hand eine "Polichinelle"-Marionette (Original-Kostüm aus mit Papier eingefasstem Satin). Auf Holzsockel mit gemusterter Samtdecke mit Bommeln. Sockel mit Federwerk für das Walzenspielwerk mit einer Melodie ("La Grosse Cais...") und die Bewegungen der Puppe. Während die Musik spielt, dreht und neigt das Mädchen seinen Kopf, hebt die Marionette an den Fäden hoch, um dann das Taschentuch ans Gesicht zu nehmen, als wenn sie sich die Tränen abwischen will. Gesamthöhe 48,5 cm. Perücke nicht entfernt, Hände ergänzt (Biskuitporzellan), Füße der Marionette leicht beschädigt. - Mit Original-"LB"-Schlüssel und -Starthebel, Original-Melodienzettel gemarkt "Modèle Déposé". - Dieser Puppenkopf stammt aus einer seltenen Charakterkopfserie von Emile Jumeau. Die Formen Nr. 211 (weinendes Kind) und Nr. 203 (lachendes Kind) wurden für die Verwendung in Lambert-Automaten hergestellt. Nur selten ist ein Kopf dieser Art bei Jumeau-Puppen zu finden. - Ein außergewöhnlicher Automat in sehr gut funktionierendem Zustand!
