CLASSIC CLOSED MOUTH JUMEAU BEBE. Bisque head stamped in red ""Depose Tete Jumeau 12"" and also incised ""12"". the blue/gray eyes are extremely nice and the doll has extremely even coloring with a nice creamy complexion. Original fully jointed body is stamped in blue on the torso ""JUMEAU DIPLOME D` HONNEUR"". Head is attached to the body by the original coil spring. Costume is made almost entirely of lace and antique white leather boots are stamped on the sole ""12"" and full figure of picture of a French child. Wig is honey human hair over original cork pate. SIZE: 26"" t (66cm). CONDITION: Very good with some typical flaking to paint on body. 1-13682
FRENCH MUSICAL AUTOMATON. Classic figure with flange neck, Jumeau head stamped in red in back ""DEPOSE TETE JUMEAU 4"". She has a closed mouth, amber paperweight eyes, and well-painted lashes and brows. When the music is wound, she turns her head from side to side, and alternately lifts her right hand to powder her nose and left hand to look in the mirror. Costume is a deep rose pleated silk with lace overlay, matching bonnet and the wig is antique brown human hair. Shoes, socks, and base cover appear original and mechanism and music appear to be well functioning. SIZE: Overall including base: 18"" t (46cm). Figure: 14"" t (36cm). ATTRACTIVE GERMAN FASHION DOLL. Unmarked bisque socket head on separate bisque shoulder plate, most likely made by Simon and Halbig. She has blue paperweight eyes (reset), closed mouth with highlighted lips, and pierced ears, and is on a white leather body with gusset joints at the hips, elbows and knees, and well modeled bisque forearms. She wears a 2-piece black taffeta dress, antique leather shoes impressed ""MG"" on the sole and a newer rabbit fur stole. SIZE: 18"" t (46cm). CONDITION: Very good. 1-14049
GERMAN BISQUE EDWARDIAN LADY DOLL. This socket head incised ""1159 S&H DEP8 Germany"" with brown glass sleep eyes, lower painted lashes and silk upper lashes, open mouth with four upper teeth on original fully jointed wood and composition lady like body with narrow waist which is stamped in red ""Heinrich Handwerck Germany"". Body finish is original as is her mohair wig in Gibson Girl style. She wears what appears to be an original factory cotton chemise and white cotton skirt. Shoes are also antique with low heels. TWO EDWARDIAN LADIES. Larger item is a bisque shoulder head with long swan-like neck, molded and painted facial features, wearing an original Gibson Girl type mohair wig. She is on a cloth body and has elegantly modeled bisque arms, each in a different position, and bisque legs with molded and painted legs with heels. Smaller item is an all-bisque figure molded to a round base. She wears original clothing and has outstretched arms reading a book. In addition, she has an original mohair wig, straw bonnet, and is attributed to Galuba & Hoffmann. SIZE: Larger: 12"" t (31cm). Smaller: 7"" t (18cm). CONDITION: Larger is very good other than both pinky fingers chipped. Smaller is excellent. 1-14079
SIX SMALL DOLLS AND MARKLIN BED. Lot consists of three bisque socket heads on 5-piece composition bodies, two all-bisque dolls, one with glass eyes and swivel neck, the other with stationary neck, and an ""A.M. 560a"" baby with 5-piece bent limb body. Doll in pink is reclining in a lovely Marklin painted bed which still retains some of its bed clothing. All items appear to be all original. SIZE: Tallest-A.M. baby: 6"" t (15cm). Smallest-all bisque in regional clothing: 4"" t (10cm). Bed: 3-3/4"" t (9cm) x 6"" l (15cm). CONDITION: Very good. 1-14077
EARLIEST PERIOD ""PORTRAIT JUMEAU"". Early pale bisque head incised ""0"" at the base of the neck. She has the sought after almond shaped eye cuts with big brown paperweight eyes, closed mouth with V-shaped upper lip with slight space between lips and nice highlighting, mauve shading above upper eyelids, and pierced earlobes. Body is original with eight separate ball joints, the desirable cupped fingers, and bears the original patina. There is no mark on the torso. She retains the original sheepskin wig over cork pate and wears a simple white cotton and lace dress with antique white leather shoes. SIZE: 15-1/2"" t (39cm). CONDITION: Very good; slight uneven coloring on both cheeks. 1-14045
5-1/2"" BAREFOOT ALL BISQUE DOLL. Cute as a button this sleep eyed stiff necked all bisque with an open mouth and a simulated 1 tooth on lower lip appears to be in all original condition/clothing. Marked on rear of head ""369 S.W.C."" this petite darling is attributed to Stroebel & Wilkin. A most expressive look about her face with fine pale bisque and jointed arms and legs. SIZE: 5-1/2"" t. CONDITION: Doll has been inspected and there appears to be no chipping at the hip or shoulder joints. A minor minute white spot on doll`s left cheek which is hardly noticeable. 1-14257
28"" TETE JUMEAU #13. A very fine example of a Tete Jumeau with pale uniform bisque, large blue paperweight eyes and finely feathered eyebrows. All affixed onto a marked composition Jumeau body with straight wrists. Dressed in a fanciful cream colored lace outfit with a blue velvet jacket and having a blond human hair wig of newer vintage. Overall a nice presentation, especially being on the chunky straight wristed jumeau body. Bisque head is clearly marked ""depose Tete Jumeau 13"". SIZE: 27"" tall. CONDITION: Overall fine original condition, some typical wear to joints on composition body, minor paint touch up to fingers on both hands. 1-14255
31"" TETE JUMEAU #14. A nice example of a French bebe with pale bisque and large blue paperweight eyes on a fully jointed French composition body. Commonly referred to as a ""scrub mark"" Tete Jumeau the lettering ""Tete Jumeau"" has been scrubbed off and oftentimes this was done to avoid price fixing or to allow a retailer to sell an item such as this at a cheaper price. She is attired in a white fanciful cotton dress she has only one shoe, being French marked with a 13 with a ""B"" and stamped ""Paris"" on the partial sole, and a blond human hair wig of newer vintage. Lacking partial ring finger on right hand and her right eye has multiple cracks but is intact. Overall a very pleasing and large doll that can easily fit into and be affordable to a collector of French dolls. SIZE: 31"" tall. CONDITION: Composition body in very good original finish with some chipping to paint finish on both hands. Firing line above doll`s right ear with small line extending further down to top of ear. 1-14256
PAIR OF TWO GERMAN BISQUE GOOGLY DOLLS. Larger is a socket head incised ""Germany 323 A11/0M"" and has brown glass sleep eyes looking slightly to the right, closed mouth with smile, on 5-pc composition body with molded and painted shoes and socks. Smaller is unmarked but attributed to Kestner and has a 1-piece all-bisque head and torso with separately strung bisque arms. Both dolls are in their original boxes, with the A.M. doll never removed from the box. SIZE: A.M.: 6"" t (25cm). All-bisque: 5"" t (12cm). CONDITION: Overall very good. 1-14069
TWO BISQUE SHOULDER HEAD DOLLS. Doll in pink dress is French and is incised on front of shoulder plate ""E3 Depose B"" and has blue paperweight eyes, closed mouth, and is on a kid leather body with gussets at the hips. Other doll is a German doll, unmarked, with head turned slightly to the right having fixed blue eyes, a closed mouth, a solid dome head, and mounted to an all leather body with gussets at the elbows and joints at the hips and knees allowing legs to bend. Both have antique mohair wigs. SIZE: French: 15-1/2"" t (39cm). German 18"" t (46cm). CONDITION: French doll has two cracks on shoulder plate, one extending from the sew hole to the right side of the neck, and the other across the shoulder which has been painted over. TWO GERMAN BISQUE CHARACTER DOLLS. Larger of the two is a bisque shoulder head by Gebruder Heubach on cloth body with bisque lower hands. He has squinty eyes and a crooked mouth and is sometimes known to collectors as ""the spinach baby"". Smaller is a portrait of an older man by ""Dressel"" on a 5-pc composition body wearing original clothes. He is known as ""the farmer"" although the head is identical to the one used in the ""Uncle Sam"" doll. SIZE: Heubach: 13"" t (33cm). Farmer: 10"" (26cm). CONDITION: Heubach is missing part of back shoulder plate; farmer is very good. 1-14053
TWO SMALL GERMAN DOLLS. The slightly taller is a bisque socket head on a fully jointed composition body with straight wrists, with head incised ""S&H Germany"". She has blue glass sleep eyes, open mouth with four teeth, an antique printed cotton dress, and an original blonde mohair wig. The other doll is unmarked and is an all-bisque with blue stationary eyes, open mouth with two upper teeth, with separately strung arms and legs, with molded and painted gold and black boots. She is sometimes known to collectors as a ""wrestler"". Also accompanying the all-bisque are five woolen sheep (one with a broken head). SIZE: 9"" t (23cm) & 7-1/2"" (19cm) respectively. CONDITION: Very good; all-bisque has one surface chip at top of right leg. 1-13977-1
EARLY BARROIS TYPE FRENCH FASHION DOLL. Pale bisque 1-piece head and shoulder with corn flower blue eyes, incised on back of shoulder plate ""B4S"". Head is mounted to an all leather body with well-detailed bisque forearms and gusset joints at the hips and knees. She wears an antique gray/blue 2-piece walking suit with black, gray, and fringe trim, a newer blonde mohair wig over cork pate, and newer leather French fashion boots. SIZE: 18"" t (45cm). CONDITION: Very good with some minute chips to back of head opening and three missing fingers on right hand. 1-13681
TRANSITIONAL JUMEAU BEBE. Pretty pressed bisque head incised ""DEPOSE 5"" having rich brown paperweight eyes, closed mouth with V-shaped upper lip and full bottom lip, well-painted eyebrows and eyelashes, pierced ears, on the original wood and composition body with straight wrists and eight separate balls joints. The torso is stamped in blue ""JUMEAU MEDAILLE D`OR PARIS"". She is wearing an antique pink silk dress with ecru lace, antique pink leather keystone shoes, and a newer mohair wig over cork pate. SIZE: 13-1/2"" t (34cm). CONDITION: Overall very good, however arms have quite a bit of age wear and surface dirt. 1-14046
EARLY RABERY & DELPHIEU BEBE. Sweet pale bisque doll with rosy cheeks, lovely amber paperweight eyes, nicely highlighted lips, dimple in chin, pierced earlobes, and well painted brows & lashes. She is on the original fully jointed wood and composition body with straight wrists with nice original paint finish. Costume consists of a scarlet silk dress with dyed lace trim, antique German canvas shoes, an antique brown velvet bonnet, and a newer blonde mohair wig over cork pate. SIZE: 15"" t (38cm). CONDITION: Very good; head slightly warped at top when taken out of the mold, but this is not evident with wig in place. 1-13704
MUSICAL CLOCKWORK AUTOMATON. Figure has a flange neck unmarked Jumeau head with closed mouth, brown paperweight eyes, and well-painted lashes and brows. She stands at a table holding an oval basket of flowers. When the music is wound, she raises and lowers her arms, and the basket goes up and down. Each time she raises the basket a different item ""magically"" appears underneath. Her hands are made of bisque, costume appears to be mostly original. Die on table is a possible replacement. SIZE: Overall including base: 15-1/2"" (39cm). Figure: 12"" t (31cm). CONDITION: Overall very good with strong music and well functioning mechanism. 1-14043
LOT OF TWO SMALL GERMAN BISQUE DOLLS. Larger of the two is a bisque socket head ""Belton type"" with blue glass eyes, closed mouth, on a 5-pc composition body with molded and painted boots and stockings. She wears a replaced sheepskin wig and has been appropriately been recostumed. Smaller is a black all-bisque doll with swivel neck, closed mouth, brown pupilless glass eyes wearing original red silk costume with lace collar. SIZE: Belton: 8-1/2"" t (22cm). All-bisque: 4-1/2"" t (12cm). CONDITION: Wig not removed on larger doll, but no damage noted; all-bisque has a few minor surface paint flakes on head, most notably on left eyebrow. 1-14074

Included are a painted bisque doll by Koppelsdorf incised ""344"", two black bisque dolls, one dressed as an island woman and incised ""A.M."" with a smaller bisque girl by ""Kuhnlenz"" with 5-piece composition body. In addition, there is a shoulder head composition clown doll, a composition baby doll with realistically modeled hair, and an all-celluloid doll with swivel neck and molded and painted features. RARE KEWPIE WITH MOLDED FLORAL WREATH. Unusual all-bisque Kewpie with separately jointed arms and a porcelain floral wreath consisting of green leaves, pink roses, and tiny blue berries encircling the head. He has been mounted to a circular marble base which has a paper label on bottom marked ""Made in Italy"". SIZE: 11"" t (28cm) not including base. CONDITION: Slight chip to one leaf on forehead as well as one edge chip to one rose; slight lack of color in neck socket indentation. 1-13979
LARGE ASSORTMENT OF KEWPIES. Most are authorized German bisque Kewpies with two wax Kewpies and one made in China circa 1950. Included are many standard all-bisques with jointed arms, a large traveler, a Governor, two Kewpie bud vases, two shoulder head Kewpie dolls, a bride and groom, and other assorted objects. POLICHINELLE ON CART. Colorful pull toy of jester in cart. Traditional French figure of Polichinelle with lovely bisque head incised ""FG"" and having a hump on back protruding area at waist and peaked hat. Wooden cart is colorfully painted and is drawn by a papier mache rooster. Item is propelled either by pulling or pushing the cart. SIZE: 18"" l (46cm) including rooster x 16-1/2"" h to top of hat (42cm) x 7"" w (18cm) including wheels. CONDITION: Paint work on rooster and cart still very good; Polichinelle`s silk costume has understandable age deterioration. 1-13702

FOUR ASIAN THEMED DOLLS. Lot consists of two dollhouse type men with bisque shoulder heads, cloth bodies, and bisque lower limbs. Larger has painted moustache and smaller has a Fu-Manchu type moustache with molded cap. Also included are two swivel neck all-bisque baby dolls attributed to Kestner with brown glass sleep eyes, open mouths with four upper teeth, with separately strung heads, arms, and legs. SIZE: Largest: 7-1/2"" t (19cm). Smallest: 2-1/2"" t (6cm). CONDITION: Overall very good and most appear to be wearing original costumes; smaller of the adult dolls is missing the right arm. 1-14047
LOT OF TWO CLOSED-MOUTH GERMAN BISQUE HEAD DOLLS. Larger doll is unmarked and has huge blue paperweight eyes, an open/closed mouth with two molded teeth, and two stringing holes on the forehead. Head swivels on separate shoulder plate which is mounted to an all leather body. Smaller doll is a ""Belton type"" and incised ""197"" and is attributed to Baehr & Proschild. She too has an open/closed mouth, brown paperweight eyes, and is on an early wood and composition body with straight wrists. She also comes with an extra dotted Swiss dress. SIZE: Largest: 14"" t (36cm). Smallest: 13"" t (33cm). CONDITION: Both very good with some typical age wear to both bodies. 1-14063

The larger is a socket head incised ""K*R SIMON & HALBIG 117n43"" having blue glass sleep eyes which also flirt from side to side, open mouth with four upper teeth, on original fully jointed wood and composition body with rubber hands, high knee joints, and diagonal hip joints. She wears her original dark blonde bobbed mohair wig, a 1910 style white cotton dress with pink ribbon sash, and newer white leather shoes. The smaller is a Kestner with head incised ""Made in Germany 143"" having blue glass sleep eyes, an open mouth with two upper teeth and a fully jointed wood and composition body with straight wrists. She wears a replacement wig and has been appropriately recostumed. SIZE: K*R: 17"" t (43cm). Kestner: 10"" (25cm). CONDITION: K*R overall very good with some typical age deterioration to hands. Kestner also very good, slight bisque speckling. 1-14067

Also included is a baby incised ""JDK GERMANY"" with all molded and painted features and open/closed mouth on a 5-piece bent wood body. Last is a baby incised ""NIPPON"" with blue glass sleep eyes and an open mouth with two upper teeth, also on a bent wood body. SIZE: Largest: 20"" t (51cm). Smallest: 12"" t (31cm). CONDITION: Good to very good; some typical age wear to bodies, Kestner baby has very slight color rub on left cheek. 1-13664

Charming pair of all-bisque baby dolls with brown glass sleep eyes, swivel necks, 5-piece all-bisque bodies, one with molded and painted blue shoes and socks, and the other with molded and painted pink booties and white socks. Both have their original paper stickers on front torso and both are incised on the backs of the torsos ""6-13 Copr By Grace S. Putnam"". SIZE: 5"" t (13cm) each.
