A boxed early Mamod TE1a live steam Traction Engine with Stationary Engines and Workshop Accessories, the Traction Engine with reversing cylinder (TE1a) but still with original TE1 smokebox, complete with spirit burner, scuttle and steering extension, VG, has had little use, TE1a box (brown with red/black/white label to one side), VG, together with unboxed MM1 engine with burner and SE1 engine with burner (baseplate has been cut/shortened on this engine), two base-less lineshaft units and four workshop tools - polisher, grinder, hammer and punching machine all in pale green and red, with drive bands, all G-VG except SE1 which is P-F (qty)

A CONTINENTAL METAL MOUNTED TURNED FRUITWOOD COFFEE GRINDER 18TH/EARLY 19TH CENTURY 21.5cm high, base 10cm diameter Provenance: Ex Private London collection Condition Report: Marks, scratches, splits, abrasions and losses commensurate with age and use. The internal grinding mechanism still present and turning. four vacant holes to the mid section, metal tongues to movement not screwed in. Crank is absent. With 5 ORIGINAL DRAWINGS BY GEORGE CRUIKSHANK.CRUIKSHANK, George (1792-1878) & Robert CRUIKSHANK (1789-1856), illustrators. London Characters. London: Joseph Robins, 1827 [but compiled in 1906]. 12mo (156 x 98mm). 24 hand-coloured plates by George (15) and Robert (9) Cruikshank, with a duplicate plate of the baker loosely-inserted (the title supplied in later facsimile, some plates later impressions, see note). Later tan printed paper boards, later burgundy silk chemise. Cohn 182. According to Cohn, many copies of this work, including the present one, were bound in facsimile boards, with facsimile title-pages, in 1906, from loose plates sold at the Edwin Truman sale held at Sotheby's in May 1905 and completed with impressions from the copper plates which were also sold at that sale. With 5 ORIGINAL DRAWINGS BY GEORGE CRUIKSHANK, each signed, titled, "An Organ Grinder", "May Day", "The Parish Beadle" and two with partially-illegible captions, contained in a later burgundy silk chemise.

Thomas Fentham, carver, gilder, glass grinder and picture-frame-maker, occupied various addresses in the Strand between 1774 and 1825...The most frequently encountered label (as on the present mirror) dates from the period 1794-1820: 'T. FENTHAM, No. 136 STRAND, NEAR SOMERSET-HOUSE, Manufacturer of Looking-Glasses, CONVEX and CONCAVE MIRRORS, AND ALL SORTS OF PICTURE and GLASS FRAMES, GLASS for EXPORTATION'For a comparable mirror see Bonham's, London, Britain Defining the Interior, 9th March 2016, lot 193 (£4,000).
