(lot of 2) French Neoclassical style .950 silver cruet stand, by Fray Fils, 1875-1891, Paris, the footed caddy decorated with swags and bows above monogramed medallions, and fitted with a pair of stoppered crystal cruets (losses to one stopper); together with a German .800 silver pepper mill fitted with an Italian grinder, 6.23 troy oz.
ORGAN GRINDER AND PERFORMING BEAR MECHANICAL BANK. A very fine example of a classical mechanical bank with a clockwork mechanism. Mechanism can be activated by either a lever on the base or depositing a coin in the organ grinder. When activated the bear proceeds to spin about while the organ grinder cranks the hurdy gurdy device. A youth and a police officer looking over the rear fence enjoying the folly of the action. Overall paint is vibrant with an abundance of yellow and red highlighting to the green base. The house itself has wonderful copper highlighting to the windows and the red roof has excellent paint. The back fence with the police officer and youth is intact and also has a very fine paint finish. A really nice all original and complete example with no damage to the iron castings and in fine working order. SIZE: 7"" w x 4-3/4"" d. CONDITION: As stated above, very good to fine condition. The one minor issue being some oxidation/dark spots on flat green base where bear and organ grinder stand. The bear himself has fabulous copper highlighting and his bar is intact with no broken end pieces. A light cleaning would certainly enhance the overall appeal of this bank! 1-14111
