An interesting collection of John Whitehurst of Derby FRS 1713-88, J. Whitehurst II of Derby 1761-1834 and J. Whitehurst III of Derby. Comprising an original ink signature on paper John Whitehurst of Derby (1713-88); together with a pen and ink sketch design for a bell tower copula with weather vane, probably late 18th century, approx 17 x 18cm; together with a pen and ink sketch of 'An Escapement for a clock 1800'. probably drawn by John Whitehurst II of Derby; another pen and ink sketch titled 'A perpetual day of the moth in a clock', depicting a calendar gear wheel mechanism and calendar for a longcase clock, draw and ready to make, probably drawn by John Whitehurst II of Derby, after 1788 and approx 25 x 36.5cm; a rubbing/engrave template complicated sundial, dated 1812- an interesting sundial is in Derby museum, dated 1812 and another can be seen at Locko Park, approx 31 x 34cm; a watchman's time pieces sheet dated 1812 which would have been parted into a longcase clock; an indenture of 1819 relating to John Whitehurst II and second son Charles Howard Whitehurst reference a sale of a house in St Alkmunds churchyard, probably a draft, approx 59 x 43cm.

Buller (letter and clippings). All presented in a period folio with annotated sleeves by the original Victorian collector, period cuttings and information about the individuals within. Also from the same collection; 15 envelopes containing cut signatures and Carte De Visites from such notables as Lord Beaufort, the Archbishop Of York, Earl Of Harrowby, Duke Of Marlborough etc. 100+.
