Gold-plated silver chalice, paten and spoon in original case with key. The chalice is gilded silver, 835/1000, year letter 1914, Waarborgkantoor Amsterdam. Made for Janssen en Co, Tilburg / Haarlem (1899-1922) for G van Kalcken Haarlem. The chalice stands on a round base with a slightly raised rim. Foot sloping up in the trunk. On the rim a pearl rim and a ribbon with Jesus Christ Heri Et Hodie Ipse Et Saecula in Gothic lettering. On the arch 3 round medallions, Ghent Altarpiece with a cross vane in a halo, Christ's head with a crown of thorns, fish with bronze basket on the back. Around this tendrils of roots that end in leaf tendrils at the top of the foot. Between the medallions Jugendstil floral motif, inlaid with opals and pear-shaped diamonds. Round nodule decorated with large floral motifs, rose branch, passion flower with crown and water lilies. Round trunk with 3 pearl edges. Counter cup decorated with large sunflowers. On the cuppa with Vivo Ego Jam Non Ego Vivit Vero In Me Christus in Gothic lettering. The paten is gold-plated silver, year letter 1913, Waarborgkantoor Utrecht. The spoon has a twisted handle with a heart in a triangle, no mark found.
AN IMPORTANT GEORGIAN PRESENTATION MAMELUKE OF CHARLES WILLIAM VANE-STEWART, 80.5cm sharply curved trophy kilij blade with gold koftgari signature panels and highlights, gilt hilt, the crossguard with cross-hatch decoration and chiselled with scrolling foliage and flowerheads, the backstrap chased and decorated with geometric designs, rose head riveted mother-o'-pearl grips, chain guard mounts, contained in its copper gilt mounted leather wrapped wooden scabbard, decorated with geometric designs and scrolling foliage, further applied with a presentation plaque, Presented by C. W. Vane Marquis of Londonderry GCB GCH BE GRS STGeo TO His Nephew Captn D. Wood RA ANNO 1847. Charles William Vane, 3rd Marquess of Londonderry first saw active service in the French Revolutionary wars as a young Lieutenant in 1794. He further served with distinction in the Peninsular Wars as a Cavalry Commander during the Corunna campaign with Paget and later as Wellington's Adjutant took part in the Battle of Talavera. Vane is famously depicted in a Portrait, now in the National Portrait Gallery and shown here, in which this Mameluke is slung over his shoulder. Three rivets lacking from one side of the grip, which is also cracked.

Four: Captain E. J. V. Baumgartner, Royal Engineers, later Royal Welsh Fusiliers British War and Victory Medals (Capt. E. J. V. Baumgartner); France, Republic, Academic Society of International History (2), neck badge, 83mm including wreath suspension x 60mm, gilt and enamel, with neck riband; Medal, bronze, with rosette on riband; together with the related miniature awards, very fine (4) £70-£90 --- Eric Jocelyn Vane Baumgartner was born in Ceylon on 20 April 1887 and was educated at Bedford Grammar School. Commissioned into the Royal Engineers, he served with them during the Great War in Egypt from March 1916, before transferring to the Royal Welsh Fusiliers, and was advanced Captain. In civilian life he was employed by the Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation. Following the outbreak of the Second World War he was commissioned Lieutenant in the Royal Army Service Corps on 14 June 1940, before resigning his commission on 3 October 1940. He changed his surname by Deed Poll to Percy on 18 October 1940, and died in Risborough, Buckinghamshire, on 6 January 1962. The circumstances concerning how he earned the French awards are not known. Sold with copied research.
