A rosewood travelling box for an important giant chronometer carriage clock, unnumbered, circa 1840, the hinged gilt tied bail handle with leafy uprights over hinged lid and lift-out panel to front, the interior lined with padded velvet with chronometer key shaped cut-out to base, the sides and back with conforming fielded panels, on compressed bun feet with rails to take removable front panel between, internal measurements 22.5cm x 15cm x 12.5cm approx, 29cm high excluding handle. The outline of the key suggests Frodsham as a probable maker of the original clock.
