A PAIR OF GEORGE III SILVER SAUCE TUREENS AND COVERS, JOHN EDWARDS, LONDON, 1806 the plain oblong bodies each on four lion mask and paw supports, applied gadroon lips, the detachable domed covers engraved with a crest below cast coiled snake terminals 21.2cm over end handles, 1867gr (60oz) In his biography of John Edwards, Arthur Grimwade (London Goldsmiths, p.501), concludes that, 'As partner with [William] Frisbee for a short time [in 1791] he must have been in the circle which included the young Paul Storr.'

Provenance: Fine Silver, Bonhams, New Bond Street, 22 November 2006, lot 152. The arms are those of Parker impaling Popham of Linton.

Paul Storr - a George III shaped circular salver, gadrooned anthemion and acanthus border, lion paw feet, 17cm diam, London 1812, 9ozHeraldry: Arms of David Graham Drummond Ogilvy, styled Lord Ogilvy, KT, DL.borne from his birth in 1826 until he succeeded to the Earldom of Airlie in 1849. The title had been forfeited by his great grandfather for involvement in the 1715 Jacobite rebellion, but was restored to his father in 1826, the year of his birth. As he did not marry until he became 10th/5th Earl of Airllie, this object was probably engraved when he came of age in 1847 and set up in his own establishment at Airlie Castle. He died 1881 and was an ancestor of Hon. Angus Ogilvie husband of Princess Alexandra.

A George V silver two handled vase, of classical form, one side decorated a chariot race, the other side decorated a maiden in a cart pulled by two bulls, the handles with rosettes and serpents, Hunt & Roskell Ltd, London 1923, approx. 33.9 ozt See illustration Condition report Report by GHThis is 92.5% silver as per British standard. Maker's mark to the top, slightly rubbed but other marks clear. No obvious major dents or noticeable damages or repairs. The rim is inscribed Hunt and Roskell Ltd, late Storr & Mortimer 3916. The vase appears to have been covered with some sort of anti-tarnish lacquer or varnish which is coming off in places and has left the surface looking blotchy. This should be straight forward to remove.

A William IV silver oval dish by Paul Storr, London 1837, with gadrooned rim and engraved crest, Out of a ducal coronet a falcon rising with wings outstretched, 11¼in. (28.5cm.) long, weight 14.75 tr.oz., * Condition: Two small dents to centre of well and faint 1cm. line dent to one end of well. Some old scratching to surface of silver throughout. Good crisp marks.
