In 1819 he gained notoriety after the Peterloo Massacre when he ordered the 15th Hussars to charge on a crowd of demonstrators who had gathered to listen to a speech on the reform of parliamentary representation. Eighteen people were killed and over 400 injured as a result. A Set of Four George III Silver Table-Spoons, by Paul Storr, London, 1817, Old English Military Thread and Shell pattern, engraved with a crest, 11oz 15dwt (4) . Each fully marked on back of handle. There is some minor wear to the marks, though each is still generally clear. There are some overall surface scratches and wear, consistent with age and use. The wear is noticeable as a softening to the high points and the engraving. There is some minor wear to the edges of the bowls.
