GLASGOW COMEDY INTEREST: LARGE COLLECTION OF LEX MCLEAN MEMORABILIA including several BBC scripts, signed head shots, box of personal photographs, framed photographs of play casts, original recipts and invoices for gigs, scrap books of newspaper cuttings, handwritten account book, large ink stamp of 'Try McLean's Pool, Money for Nothing' cartoon, a silver plated tray awarded for 'R.F. C.S.A 23rd Rally, Guest Speaker, Lex McLean, March 5th 1972' and a Comedy award statuette, his white performing jacket and black bowler hat, the silver plated tray 39cm long Note: Lex McLean (born Alexander McLean Cameron, 1908-23 March 1975) was a Scottish comedian, described as "almost certainly the last of Scotland's great music hall comedians". He played to packed houses all over his country from the late 1950s to the early 1970s, when he had to semi-retire on the grounds of ill health. Known as "Sexy Lex" for his risque but never obscene humour, his act was even passed by the Lord Chamberlain. At the peak of his popularity in the 1960s he appeared in the BBC Scotland comedy series Lex and Lex Again. A huge fan of Rangers, he even had Ibrox legend George Young guest on his television show.

Tea Chest, Dressing and Jewellery Boxes, made to any Pattern, on the shortest Notice', with sunken brass side carrying handles, 20.5cm high, 53.3cm wide, 29.7cm deep. Charles Edward Lefroy (1810-1861) was secretary to the speaker of the House of Commons. The Lefroy family had close connections with Jane Austen, one of her best friends was Anne Lefroy, Charles's sister.

A 1920's lacquered papier maché speaker case in the form of a seated Taoist scholar, inscribed to underside "Regd Design Andia Speaker Patented in Germany No. 442473" CONDITION REPORTS Height approx 31cm. Overall with craquelure, various chips and losses. This is the speaker cover only (no speaker). There is no base.

Autograph Book of 19th Century Celebrities Album: Autograph Album inscribed Jessy S.L. Jameson from her affectionate brother J.L. Jameson, 9/30/61. Containing 90 numbered pages, with over 240 entries, cut out signatures, notes, letters etc., starting with Queen Victoria, and her prime Minister Lord Palmerston, together with many other prime ministers, statesmen, M.P.'s, generals, authors (include. some women), bishops etc., include. Lord Raglan, ill-fated commander during The Crimean War, signs 'before Savastopol' in 1854. There are several curiosities, such as 'Cheng or Woo Gow the Chinese Giant,' and Mrs. Jermy, whose husband and father-in-law were shot by a demented tenant farmer in the notorious Stanfield Hall Murders in 1848. There are also numerous Irish names. Included in no particular order are such names as Marquis Wellesley; Mountifort Longfield, economist; Agnes Strickland, author; Anthony Trollope; Chas. Foster, Speaker; E.M. Ward, Artist; Robert Peel; Chas. Babbage, and many many more. As a coll., w.a.f.
