(5) Footnote - The infamous in-line resistance block was used to lower the mains voltage before getting to the set, in order to limit the heat and save space inside. But invariably, this block was in contact with the carpet on the floor, sometimes getting so hot it left a burn mark. The Radiomarelli set is clearly based on the much-loved British Murphy A100 'Handbag' radio - an example of which is also in this section.
