Sitzendorf porcelain figure group, after 18th Century Meissen, modelled with a girl seated on a goat and holding a vine with grapes and a boy playing a woodwind instrument, the oval base moulded with a classical frieze, 15cm high These group belong to a series of the four seasons which were first modelled by Schönheit January to June 1782; see Clarke 1988, nos. 102-105, p.38 and S. & T. A continental porcelain bowl and cover of large proportions, mid to late 19th century, possibly Sitzendorf imitating Meissen, the bowl decorated to one side with a noble couple with hawk and hounds outside a tavern, to the other with bawdy characters outside a tent, the scenes separated by floral sprays and bordered to the top by a relief moulded ozier frieze and to the bottom by a relief moulded acanthus leaf frieze, the cover decorated with similar scenes and surmounted by a finial modelled as a putti upon a dolphin, underglaze faux Meissen Marcolini mark and applied retailer's label to base, diameter 34cm max, 37cm high (at fault) CONDITION REPORT:The piece shows black speckling across the surface, which appears to be numerous small glazing faults, as well as firing pits and frits to the interior and exterior. The piece also shows extensive rubbing to the gilt highlights, and surface wear and scratching throughout (particularly to the highpoints and the cover).
