Terry Thomas signed 14cmx9cm sepia photo. 1911 1990 was an English comedian and character actor who became known to a worldwide audience through his many films during the 1950s and '60s. He often portrayed disreputable members of the upper classes, especially cads, toffs and bounders, using his distinctive voice; his costume and props tended to include a monocle, waistcoat and cigarette holder. His striking dress sense was set off by a 1⁄3-inch (8.5 mm) gap between his two upper front teeth. Good condition
THOMAS FREDERICK 'TOMMY' COOPER 1921-1984 A parcel of Tommy Cooper related memorabilia and artwork to be offered on behalf of The Tommy Cooper Society to raise further funds for 'Tommy's Ticker Campaign', a campaign to purchase defibrillators for public use in locations of public assembly. Born in Caerphilly, Tommy Cooper became one of the world's most recognisable and innovative comedians, his television work spanning nearly 40 years after his 'big break' on the BBC talent show 'New to You'. On 15 April 1984, he collapsed from a heart attack live on London Weekend Television's 'Live From her Majesty's'. There is a statue of Tommy Cooper standing in his hometown of Caerphilly which was unveiled by Sir Anthony Hopkins, a patron of The Tommy Cooper Society'. In a 2005 poll 'The Comedian's Comedian', Tommy Cooper was voted the sixth greatest comedy act ever. 1. A baronet's ceremonial dress uniform,for Sir Sven Wohlford Hansen, 1st Baronet MBE (1876-1958),comprising:a bicorn hat,black velvet jacket and hose,white silk waistcoat,black stockings,shoes,a belt, anda dress sword with etched blade, 'T & F French, Dover Street',in a painted tin trunk labelled 'Sir Sven Hansen Bt.'Sven Wohlford Hansen was born in Cardiff in 1876, the son of Carl Frederick Hansen, a Norwegian who settled in Wales in the 1860s as an importer of pit props for the South Wales collieries, subsequently becoming a ship insurance agent. Initially Sven Hansen joined his father's business, but he later branched out on his own, his 'Cardiff Hall Steamship Line' being one of the largest operating out of the Bristol Channel ports. For his services to shipping during the First World War, he was appointed an MBE.He later went on to revive the shipbuilding industry in Bideford, Devon and was created a Baronet in 1921 for his services to the town.
An unusual collection of ephemera and props relating to Prof. Ernie Leech, humorist, ventriloquist and descriptive vocalist. Included in the lot is a full ventriloquist dummy with body and moving parts to the head, four further heads, the original travelling trunk with label inscribed "Prof. Ernie with his Lilliputian Pierrots", two framed and glazed posters for Collins' Hippodrome, Stoke on Trent and The Lyseum Theatre, Heywood dated 1905, and ephemera including a photograph of Ernie Leech with one of the dummies seated upon his knee, related music scores, etc. Ernie Leech was the grandfather of the vendor and was a well know character from Crewe. In later life he became the licensee of The Angel Hotel in Victoria Street, Crewe and continued to work as a ventriloquist and speaker throughout the area. CONDITION REPORT: Mechanisms need attention, but mostly working. Cracking to the faces and hair loss throughout.

Design: Do The Locomotive Artist: Anna Rawles and Jennifer Rodgers About the artist Anna and Jennifer met while studying at London College of Fashion. A keen interest in visual arts, film and theatre, props and special effects, encouraged them to collaborate and have been doing since. Current projects have included creating puppets for the Natural History Museum, props and set for a one woman show at Kew Gardens and a bus sculpture for the Year of the Bus Sculpture Trails in London. About the design This bus explores the evolution of public transport and displays how far the industry has come. One side shows the contemporary tram system, which centres around Croydon. The other side shows an example of an older form of train travel, a 19th century steam train. Train and tram tracks to show the difference in these modes of transport. About the design Journey into a world of discovery - unbeknown to some, Croydon has been home to many successful figures. The Library shows the words of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and D.H. Lawrence, both literary giants, linked to Croydon. Also included is an old radio microphone representing the unique broadcasting Croydon has - beginning with the first radio station and now Croydon’s own TV channel.
