General Maximus' (Russell Crowe) stunt Roman sword and scabbard from Ridley Scott's Academy award-winning historical epic Gladiator. Maximus carried his general's sword and scabbard in the opening battle scenes as he led his Roman army against the Barbarian tribes in the forests of Germania. Rubber props were created for use during stunts, such as horse riding. The sword is made from dense rubber with a metal armature added within the blade to maintain its shape. Ornate faux-gold floral detailing decorates the pommel and the text "SPQR" has been molded into the guard. Made of rubber and finished to replicate worn leather, the scabbard features one half of a leather carrying strap. A metal section has been inserted inside meaning the sword cannot be placed within the scabbard. "Maximus Rub" has been handwritten in black marker on the underside of the strap. Both pieces show evidence of production use including minor wear, bending to the blade tip and a notable crack is present on the sheath. Dimensions (sword): 38 1/2" x 3 1/2" x 2 3/4" (98 cm x 9 cm x 7 cm); (scabbard): 31" x 4 3/4" x 3/4" (79 cm x 12 cm x 2 cm)Estimate: $10,000 - 15,000

Lot 308

A production binder and hand-drawn illustrations from George Stevens' biblical epic The Greatest Story Ever Told. Department heads used binders to maintain continuity on their budgets and responsibilities throughout production. The red leather, three-ring, metal-boundbinder is marked as the property of the film's prop master, Sam Gordon. It contains detailed breakdowns of the film's shooting schedule, cast, props, and locations, as well as many visual reference photos. The 21 illustrations contain hand-drawn sketches of many of the film's key props, including Jesus Christ's (Max von Sydow) crucifix and the Holy Grail. The binder and illustrations are in fair overall condition with some signs of wear, including discoloration and tearing to the pages.Dimensions: 16 1/4" x 16 1/4" x 6 1/2" (41.25 cm x 41.25 cm x 16.5 cm)Sold without copyright; see notice in the Buyer's GuideEstimate: $1,200 - 1,800 Δ

A chilled monkey brain head from Steven Spielberg's action-adventure sequel Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. Willie Scott (Kate Capshaw) and her fellow dinner guests were served chilled monkey brains as dessert after the main course of bugs and snakes. This monkey head is made from a vacuformed plastic shell filled with biscuit foam hand-painted with eye, nose, and teeth detailing and applied with gray hair. The top piece of the head is removable and reveals a small plastic bowl where the "brains" were served. The head features some signs of production wear and age, including red stains from the food coloring used on the props, but it remains in good overall condition. Dimensions: 6" x 4 1/2" x 5" (15 cm x 13 cm x 4 cm)Estimate: $5,000 - 7,000 Δ

Lot 738

A blank-firing Endor rebel trooper blaster rifle from Richard Marquand's Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. Rebel troopers led by Han Solo (Harrison Ford) carried blaster rifles (characterized after the film's release as BlasTech A280 model) during the Battle of Endor. The blasters were similar to those seen in The Empire Strikes Back during the Battle of Hoth, though they were based on real-world M16/AR-15 models. This rebel blaster prop was one of only three blank-firing versions utilized during filming, though the AR-15 lower receiver (the area around the grip and magazine housing) has been removed and replaced with a replica firearm lower receiver so it can no longer fire. The rest of the prop is original to the film, and custom-made for production, including the stock, Single Point sight, wooden forearm, and various dressing greebles. The barrel contains a restrictor plug installed to make the piece fire with blanks during filming. The paint is scuffed throughout and metal components exhibit some rusting from age, but this blaster prop remains in good overall condition. The piece was originally sourced from Stembridge Gun Rentals, who provided the blank-firing props for the film's location shoot. Dimensions: 32 1/2" x 3" x 9" (82.75 cm x 7.75 cm x 23 cm)Contains mechanical components; see notice in the Buyer's GuideEstimate: $25,000 - 35,000 Δ

A high-performance 13-metre powerboat with James Bond provenance. The original James Bond boat having been supplied to the late Sir Roger Moore KBE, who owned it for over ten yearsNamed 'K' believed after Sir Roger's wife Kristina 'Kiki' Tholstrup, who bought it for himSir Roger and Kristina enjoyed many happy times on the boat, whilst spending a few weeks every year at their private villa in Cap d'Antibes and latterly in an apartment in MonacoTwo fresh Cummins 250 HP Turbo-diesels with new drives professionally installed in MonacoOnly c489 running-hours since. Runs beautifully up to 30 Knots+. Great sea handlingWeekend accommodation below. Fitted galley, separate heads, saloon area and double berth forepeakLast fully serviced in 2019 with very few hours sinceNew anodes, fresh anti-foul treatment and inspection service just completed in July 2020A chance to be part of the Sunseeker family. Viewing at short notice can be arranged, currently lying near DartmouthFeatured in 'Motorboat and Yachting' magazine; verifiable ownership and maintenance history, accompanied by much paperwork and interesting Sir Roger provenanceThe Sunseeker back-catalogue is positively dripping with super desirable, high-quality boats that always perform well. However, this particular example is extra special because the first owner was none other than Sir Roger Moore! He bought it new in 1995 to replace his Tomahawk 37, kept it in Monaco and ran it along the French Riviera for many years. He called it 'K', no doubt after Kristina Tholstrup, who bought him the boat, and whom he had married two years earlier. As of 2007, it was moored at Port de Cap d'Ail in the south of France. The port borders the millionaires' playground of Monaco, where Sir Roger had an apartment.Sir Roger once told how he and fourth wife Kristina enjoyed long sunny days relaxing on the cruiser. He said: "We have a good boat, a 41ft Sunseeker. Kristina ties the fenders off. She is my crew. We keep it in the next port round from the main harbour and go out every day somewhere like Villefranche or Cap d'Ail and swim. We have lunch, then a kip down below. Then we come up for a swim and go home."Very much part of Sunseeker's high-performance range, the Tomahawk 41's interior is compact yet efficiently laid out. Despite its dimensions, you still get great weekending ability, a galley area, separate heads, a saloon with two social settees and a double berth in the forepeak - everything a man (or woman) on a mission requires! The original cell phone that Sir Roger had fitted (an expensive novelty in 1995) is still present and functions, with the boat having its own number! A great talking point for 007 fans. The cockpit, which can comfortably accommodate nine people, has a double helm seat, plus a single alongside. Comfortable sun pads can be found aft. The backrests on both sides are adjustable to various angles, and the helm seat also reverses to both forward and aft seating positions. To port is the wet bar and drinks-cooler (for storing those vital Vodka Martini ingredients - shaken not stirred of course!) Inside the cabin, we have the galley to port and WC to starboard followed by two U-shaped seating arrangements, with the option of a table each side, and forward of this is a large double berth. The table can be adjusted with an infill to create two extra single berths as and when required. There is a hob, fridge, and microwave in the galley, as well as a further electric cool box located under the seating to keep the champagne cool! There are two canopies supplied, the full height version with removable panels and a very sporty tonneau cover that accentuates the stunning lines of the craft.Sir Roger had the original engines replaced with a pair of Cummins 6BTA 250hp engines and drives, with only c489 hours of use since, giving a top speed of about 31 knots, with a 25-knot cruise. From the 1980s Hawk 27 upwards, all of Sunseeker's Hawk series boats are performance orientated, with more than a passing nod to race boat hulls. This Tomahawk 41 might not have race boat speeds, but that narrow beam and deep vee cleave the water like one, with grace and purpose. With much history continuity and letters proving the ownership back to Sir Roger and after, a service in 2019, a complementary survey done 18 months ago, new anodes and anti-fouling treatment applied recently, plus a professional clean of the outdrives and props, the boat is in exceptional overall condition. This is a real opportunity to acquire a special piece of Sir Roger Moore's, and inexplicably, also James Bond, history.Vessel Details:Length: 42ft 1in (12.8m)Beam: 10ft 1in (3.1m)Draught: 3ft 11in (1.2m)Displacement: approx. 7 tonnesFuel capacity: 780 litresEngines: Twin Cummins 6BTA 250hp dieselYou can now book a one to one appointment (up to one hour) to view this lot at our central location between 16th and 30th July. Original vintage travel advertising poster for Ostend, a coastal city and municipality, located in the province of West Flanders in the Flemish Region of Belgium. It was issued by the Belgian State Railways and features a painting by Belgian artist, academic and soldier Alfred Bastien (1873-1955). Bastien is well known for his grand Panorama of the Yser Front in 19th century tradition, a painting that measured 115 meters in length and 14 meters in height and was initially exhibited in Brussels. In the mid 1920s, a permanent building was constructed in Ostend, Belgium to house the Panorama along with a multitude of props and decor. The intention of moving the Panorama to Ostend was to capture a share of British war-tourism, since most British coming to visit relatives' war graves arrived by steamer in Ostend before proceeding to the area of the Ypres Salient. The Panorama opened at Ostend in 1926. The sketch in the poster, by the artist, features the burning and shell-blasted Cloth Hall in the First World War (1914), a medieval building in Ypres, Belgium. The building now houses the In Flanders Fields Museum. Condition: Good condition, folds and creases all restored, linen backed. Country of printing: Belgium, designer: Alfred Bastien, size (cm): 103x75, year of printing: 1920s.
