Dan Dare and the Mekon:, a green mache Mekon publicity mask from the first Hutton Boys & Girls exhibition, Olympia 1956, also together with a Dan Dare badge and colour separation sheets for 'Eagle' Vol II No.26 25 June 1960, together with a letter of provenance from the Huttton press publicity officer. *Provenance- The accompanying letter explains how props from the Exhibition were returned to the Hutton Press publicity department office after the exhibition and kept by the publicity officer at the time.

Caracalla AR Antoninianus. Rome, AD 217. ANTONINVS PIVS AVG GERM, radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust right, seen from behind / VICT PARTHICA, Victory seated right on cuirass, inscribing VO XX in two lines on shield which she props on her left knee and holds with her left hand; shield behind and helmet below. RIC IV 314 note; BMCRE 89; RSC 656b. 4.83g, 24mm, 7h. Good Very Fine. Very Rare. This coin was struck in anticipation of a Roman victory over the Parthians that was to coincide with the beginning of Caracalla's twentieth year as Augustus. Caracalla had taken the opportunity of a divided Parthian kingdom, invading their lands in early AD 216. Meeting initial success and pushing the Parthians back deeper into their territory, the emperor decided to consolidate his gains and winter in Edessa. A decisive victory however eluded the emperor, as in the spring of AD 217, while on a trip to Carrhae, Caracalla was assassinated by a member of his bodyguard.

CONDITION REPORT No Visible signs of damage to any of the figure groups but evidence of use of glue to stabilise certain props.

An archive of magic tricks, printed matter, and ephemera, belonging to Gordon Woodcock, 1930s and later, a large number of magic tricks, including playing cards, silk handkerchiefs, multiplying billiard balls, wooden boxes, feather bouquets, Chinese rings, a clay pipe, rope, giant dice, and other props such as a collapsible rabbit, conjuring wands, fans, screens, etc., and various books and journals, including The Magic Wand, The Journal Official Organ of the Magical Society, The Magician Monthly, The Magical World, The B.M.S. Journal, The Sphinx, plus conjuring trade catalogues, and various printed, typed, and manuscript ephemera relating to magic tricks, illusions, and ventriloquism, including letters, e.g. a typed letter signed from Henri De'Seevah "The Friendly Magician", and a manuscript postcard from Professor Whyley relating to the procurement of a dummy, flyers advertising George Smallwood's Mystic Parade at which Gordon Woodcock performed in 1940, and three brown manilla folders containing a typed illustrated correspondence course by Rupert Howard from The St. James School of Magic, 1930s, all contained in a metal trunk and a suitcase, each with the owner's name and address stencilled on lid, with additional material in a cardboard box Provenance: Owned by the vendor's uncle, Gordon Woodcock (1921-2005), who was one of the youngest members of the British Magical Society, and performed at family parties.
