John Adams for Poole Pottery CSA 'Chinese' blue glazed group of ceramics, comprising a pair of ginger jars and covers, with impressed marks to the base, 17cm high, a pedestal dish, incised '464' to the base with impressed marks, 11.5cm high x 20.5cm wide and a wide-shouldered vase, incised '422' to the base, 18cm high overall (4)Provenance: One of the blue ginger jars with covers was purchased from 'The Poole Pottery Museum and Archive' sale at Christie's South Kensington on 31st March 2004 and was lot 45, it comes with a photocopy of the accompanying invoice. The other item (Lustre vase) that is listed on the invoice is included in this sale. The ginger retains its original paper lot label. All with overall wear, marks, scratches, signs of age and use. One ginger jar lid with cracks. One ginger jar (Not the Archive sale example) with flaws to the footrim, we think this is a manufacturing/production fault, not damage. There is a similar fault to the footrim of the vase also. The pedestal bowl sounds dull when tapped, we have checked it under a UV light as a result and nothing shows. The Archive sale ginger jar has lots of sticky label/sellotape residue, but we think this would clean off with a gentle wash.
Truda Adams for Poole Pottery two large vases, the first decorated with a stylised bird and flowers, with 'NT' painted to the base, with impressed 11 mark, 25cm high overall, the second decorated with flowers and leaves, with 'NF' painted to the base, with impressed 11 mark, 29cm high (2) Overall wear, marks and scratches. Crazing to both. Some faults to the glaze in places. The bird vase with some peculiar-looking paint to the footrim, possibly restored, but there is no evidence of flaking that we can see. One small area of the footrim to the same vase shows under UV slightly. The floral vase appears generally ok with some pin-holes to the glaze.

All with overall wear, marks and scratches. Consistent with age, display and use. All with crazing. The tallest example with some white to the corners and raised areas, this is wear to the finish, not damage. The baluster vase with some chips and a hairline crack. The bowl with minimal glaze faults, a pinhole to the glaze and with scratches. The purple vase with what looks like white paint on the surface?

Crazing to the glaze of all pieces. Some discolouration to the crazing on some also. The leaping deer vase has a professionally restored (Very difficult to spot, even under a UV light) handle. The large bowl has a very small bruse/tiny glaze loss to the rim. The small striped jug has a small fault to the footrim, we think this is a manufacturing fault, not damage. Panel brooch with small chips. Some old adhesive marks to some which would come off with a gentle wash.
John Adams for Poole Pottery CSA 'Chinese' blue glazed group of ceramics, comprising a pair of candlesticks, with impressed marks to the base, 23.5cm high overall, a ribbed vase with '694' incised to the base, 13cm high, a tapering bowl, with impressed marks to the base, 14.5cm wide x 8cm high, a small straight sided bowl with protruding rim, with impressed mark to the base, 12.5cm wide x 6.5cm high, a beaker or spill vase, with impressed marks to the base, 9cm high, a small saucer or dish, 12cm approx overall and two other vases, both with impressed marks to the base, one 10cm high, the other 8.5cm high (9) All with overall wear, marks and scratches. Some glaze faults and pin-holes in places. One of the candlesticks has a small repair to the top/sconce. The small beaker has a hairline crack. The wide squat vase on the far right of the picture has a hairline crack. The large vase has some faults to the footrim, which we think were made during the manufacturing.
Guy Sydenham (1916-2005) for Poole Pottery small bud vase with bright red glaze, impressed marks to the base, 9cm high and a taller green glaze vase also by Guy Sydenham, with impressed marks to the base, 18cm high overall (2) Both with signs of overall age, wear and use. Some scratches. The red glazed vase has some chips and damages, both to the neck and footrim. The green glazed vase has a hairline crack to the interior of the rim.
Guy Sydenham (1916-2005) for Poole Pottery 'Atlantis' range, vase with flaring rim on tapering base with textured designs, thrown by Guy Sydenham, decorated by Beatrice Bolton, with impressed marks to the base, 17cm high, a seed pod vase with decorated surface, with impressed marks for Carol Cutler (Kellett), 12cm high and a square vase with repeating abstract line motifs, impressed marks for Catherine Connett to the base, 11cm high (3) Overall wear, marks and some scratches to all. Surface dust and dirt to all. The tall flaring vase has a small bruise to the rim. The seed pod vase has a firing crack to the rim, it also has a small blemish to the foot, which we think is part of the manufacture. The squat vase has a small blemish to the footrim on the underside, we think this is part of the manufacture.
Collection of Poole Pottery 'Magnolia white' range, comprising a large globular vase with twin moulded handles, impressed marks to the base, 27cm high approx overall, a pair of bottle vases, with '698' and other impressed marks to the base, 40cm high overall, a small globular vase, with impressed marks to the base, 19cm high, a pair of small vases or pots, with '276' and other impressed marks to the base, 5cm high overall (6) Overall wear, marks, scratches to all. The two smallest pieces with tiny rough areas to the rim, in our opinion this is due to the manufacture rather than damage. They would benefit from a gentle clean. Otherwise seems ok.

Alfred Rhead and Guy Sydenham (1916-2005) for Poole Pottery three ceramic freeform vases, one decorated with a repeating leaf motif in green, impressed '686' to the base, painted and printed marks to the base, 24cm high, another decorated with green and black stripes with small stars, impressed '595' to the base, painted and printed marks to the base, 22cm high, the third vase with bands of various purples and greens, impressed '686' to the base, painted and printed marks to the base, 24cm high (3) Overall signs of display wear, marks consistent with age and use. Minimal glaze faults, some small scratches, otherwise seems ok.
Carter & Co (Poole Pottery interest)and later pieces, including an early Carter & Co green glazed teapot stand or trivet, with impressed mark one to the reverse, 19cm overall, a tall tapering vase on a grey ground with blue and purple banded and stripe decoration, mark three incised to the base and 'CF' painted to the base, 30cm high, a large 'Portuguese' striped vase in green colourway, mark three incised to the base and 'CF' painted to the base, 15cm high, a large bowl, decorated with sprigs, mark three incised to the base, 24.5cm across x 10cm high, a Carter Stabler Adams twin handled vase with blue and yellow painted decoration by Ruth Paveley, with impressed and painted marks to the base, 16cm high and one other vase with banded decoration to the shoulder, with painted, impressed and incised marks to the base, 21cm high (6) All with overall signs of age, wear, use, marks, scratches and crazing to the glaze. The large sprig bowl very dull when tapped. Several cracks and hairline cracks. With some discolouration. The very tall thin vase has discoloured cracks and hairlines to the rim. The green trivet/teapot stand has a small bruise to one corner. The two grey ground vases with pin-holes to the glaze. We have checked both under a UV light because of this and cannot find any signs of restoration. The green striped vase/bowl with very small hairline to the rim (Could possibly be crazing).

Overall wear, marks and minimal firing faults. Some minimal scratches, otherwise seems ok.
Carter & Co (Poole Pottery interest) In the manner of William De Morgan (1839-1917) tile, with slip trailed decoration of a peacock, numbers to the reverse, otherwise unmarked, 15cm x 15cmNote: The same design has been found on marked Carter's Poole pottery tiles. Overall wear, marks and scratches. Some crazing to the glaze. Minimal chips and small losses to the reverse edges/corners, otherwise seems ok.

Crazing to the glaze. There is a discoloured scratch/possible small hairline crack to the interior of the bottom of this jug. It is not visible from the base/underside.
