POOLE POTTERY TILE DESIGNS - ST JOHN FISHER CHURCH, ROCHESTER 7 tile designs of Saints, commissioned for the reredos of the St John Fisher Church, Rochester, Kent by Joseph Ledger (1926-2010) for Carter & Co, Poole, Three mounted on board, one marked to the back by Joseph Ledger, Carter & Co, Poole Potter. (7) *The Church of St John Fisher was built in 1953/54 with help from money gifted by the Bishop James Kearney of the Diocese of Rochester, New York. The architect was Harry Stuart Goodhart-Rendel (1887-1959) who commissioned tile reredoses from Joseph Ledger.
Poole Pottery plate decorated in pink and grey with flowers, large Poole baluster vase designed by John Adams, in blue glaze, 37cm, and a squat ovoid black and white vase, (3). Tall blue vase: crazing to glaze throughout, fine crack to shoulder approx 6cm which branches another 5cm, another very fine crack to shoulder approx 4cm, no other damage or restoration found.Pink plate: crazing, surface marks and scratches. No other damage or restoration found.Squat vase: surface marks. No damage or restoration found.
