Leather covered handle with further painted leather strip grips applied around the circumference. Accompanied by a broad leather sheath of painted leather, with further leather tassel decoration. Notes: information supplied by the vendor states that the item was brought back from Kenya by the District Commissioner of Kenya in 1958. Approximately 55cm length when in scabbard - blade length 37.5cm. Condition: generally good. Some dark spots to the blade and evidence of sharpening. Some wear to the painted leather surface from service wear, plus minor wear to the chape area of the sheath. Good overall patina to the leather and blade.
