JOHN HASSALL; a circa 1917 bronze and pottery car mascot, 'Robert', modelled as a policeman, height 11.75cm. Provenance: private collection, North Yorkshire. Additional InformationThere is a groove mark to the base running through the screw head, two holes where it would have attached, quite heavy rubbing to the pottery both where his hat fits and where the collar of the base fits with movement from the head. Some general rubbing to the body of the piece.

MEISSEN; an early 20th century figure of a portly young gentleman wearing elaborate clothing, painted marks to base, with indistinct impressed marks also, height 15cm.Additional InformationExtensive restoration to the hat and to the body, the left arm, right arm and hand, basically from the waist up there is extensive restoration, although the face itself is clear, large areas remaining are not, also some restoration to the marble effect column at the back.

The Pomeroy family left Engesdon, near Harberton, Devon for Ireland in the late 17th century and, when elevated to the Irish peerage in 1783, took the title derived from the English town.
