Bing (GBN) First Series clockwork ocean liner 'Britannia' 21.5 inches long, 1902-1909, hand enamelled tinplate, fine detail includes 2 funnels forward, one with male winding arbor (key supplied), 2 masts forward (one detached), both masts with Union flag atop. Fine painted abstract figurehead painting on both sides of bow. Anchor winch (anchors missing) and companion way hatch on fore deck. Forward wheelhouse and passenger cabin with ladder to upper deck, 2 sets of davits (one detached), one lifeboat, other missing, ventilation shafts, Poop deck at stern with ladder to upper deck with hand wheel for rudder and on/off lever for CW motor, jack staff (detached) flying white ensign 'Britannia' transfers below poop deck on port and starboard. Fine double handrail with cast stanchions all around deck and atop cabins, (rudder has been inverted by previous owner). One pair of shrouds for the foremast present but detached. wheeled cradle missing, but has original 'orange box' wood carry case with original paper labels on end, labels for Schlitten No. 3 (trolley) for 'Britannia' and for GBN oval Lady and Lion stature logo, Caveat emptor - deck and cabins appear repainted. Hull? A steam propelled version of this ship appears on page 51 of 'Mr Gamage's Great Toy Bazaar 1902-1906' also see page 75 'The Allure of Toy Ships' by Richard T Claus for a similar larger model

Rare Short Land Flintlock Musket of The Blues of York Regiment c 1745.75 cal, 42 3/4 inch, smoothbore barrel. The top engraved “No 108”. Breech with proof stamps. Early pattern military lock plate with maker “R Watkin”. Small neck cock (top jaw and screw replaced). Steel frizzen. Polished full stock walnut stock with early handrail butt. Butt stamped “YC5”, the property mark for York city with gun number. Brass long tang, butt plate, escutcheon, trigger guard, scroll side plate and 3 ramrod pipes. Steel sling swivels. Wooden replacement ramrod. The origins of the musket go back to the 1745 Jacobite Rebellion and the advance of the Scottish army. Preparations were made in York to defend the city forming a small regiment “The Blues of York”. Robert Watkin received a contract from the city to supply 100 muskets for the regiment. Together with extensive research.
